Question for content producers about laws on photos and designers using them?
Can a design/graphics company build me banners to use for my sites with images they say they own? I have always been under the impression that I ALWAYS had to provide my own images that my company has purchased the rights to. So if a design company uses images they say they own from photo stock they have purchased, can they build my banners for my sites with it?

If the license allows it, yes. Mine does.

i don't sell to design companies so in this case you would have to provide it. but other producers do

Thanks for the feed back :)

The problem is if you rely on their license, you´ll never know if it´s valid. If not, the copyright holder can claim an injunctive relief, regardless of wether your violation of copyrights was a malicious injury or not.
So using your own content for design is much safer, especially if you are using it for large projects. |
I would also ask if the designer is allowed to transfer the rights to you. Otherwise the design work would never really be yours.
