There are so many, but Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, and Freddy Mercury rank amongst my top 3 favorites.

I'd hesitate to say he'd be my favorite without thinking it through, but Michael Hutchence comes immediately to mind.

I like all the ones mentioned here.
