FBI Arrests Blogger for posting new Guns n' Roses Songs

27-year-old Kevin Cogill has been arrested by FBI agents in connection with his posting of Guns N' Roses songs from their unreleased album "Chinese Democracy" on his web site. The new album has been delayed for the past 10 years.

Cogill has admitted to agents that he posted the songs in June and later removed them. He is being held on suspicion of violating Federal copyright laws.

why? if more of the torrent users and rapidshare uploaders started getting snagged, it would put a big dent in the "everything is free" mentality out there :2 cents:

That's not the point, that's just your personal selfish opinion.

The point is that the FBI should be fighting WORTHWHILE crimes.

They should probably take care of that after some more important issues, no?

No, it would not.

It would put a big dent in the whole "We must pay taxes& support the government" mentality. And it will boost the we must loot and burn cars mentality, a la Paris riots.

You don't convince people to pay by beating them up. Been tried, never worked.

Meanwhile, Axl Rose tells Kelly Osbourne that he wants to fuck her

I'm guessing it was only one or two agents that went and got the guy. Those agents that arrested him probably don't go after murders, rapists, and so on. Going after pirates who distribute content is a worthwhile crime to deal with. The stupid thing in this case is it was one guy and one album. It seems like the police could have handled it.

Worthwhile crimes, like what?

The FBI has divisions that fight things like piracy, fraud, etc.. This is one of those things. That's what the FBI does.

Police don't have federal jurisdiction. Crimes like this are considered federal.

As Sly said, they have different divisions.

Secondly, it's clear you are not a producer of any kind. So the "selfish opinion" is yours. One of a complete asshat.

If it was your shit being stolen, and your sales were suffering due to copyright violation and theft, and YOUR livelihood was in danger.... I am sure this issue would be a top priority to YOU. Versus many other pointless things the government concerns it's self with.

Welcome to last week

bns666 08-31-2008 03:42 PM

Fuck gnr, who cares about them after so long time of doing shit music.

I can't think of any band worse than them except maybe scorpions.

Miguel T 08-31-2008 03:58 PM

Poor blogging dude.

Slick 08-31-2008 04:07 PM

Axl Rose is a fucking dumb ass. If the album has been done for the last 10 years, why not just release it and cash in on it ???

Another reason why he's a fucking dumb ass is because he's not putting out anything new. I'm sure that anything he put out would sell like mad.

So what you're saying is we should take whatever we want whenever we want and give fuck all to the people we're stealing from? So people won't run crazy in the streets and riot because there being stopped from breaking the law? Makes no fucking sense whatsoever.

I won't go in to it since several have already stated the obvious to the morons touting the tired line of "waste of tax dollars". I am not even sure how you can justify your statements when the law was being enforced for a change.

Read this article and it will show you just how shitty the moral compass of today's youth really is.
http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/...ight-morality/

For those who won't read it, this guy asked an auditorium of 500 college kids if it was wrong if they downloaded a movie or an album they didn't want to pay for. Only 2 people in the entire auditorium raised their hand.

This is completely ludicrous mentality and like someone else said, I hope the start dropping massive hammers down on these theiving no good fucks.

:thumbsup to the FBI.
