If you are going to vote Republican in the upcoming election, do you care if Palin's daughter was pregnant and the family chose to hide it? Would that affect your decision or would you still vote for McCain/Palin?

Does not jive to well with the whole family values thing. Though I think if one can get past everything he has said and done and then reversed his views on several times I do not see how a 16 year old that puts out getting to live in the whitehouse would be a bad thing.

My old ass die hard republican neighbor who never misses any votes at all (even local ones) already said he will not be voting for any woman VP and would rather see a negro in charge. (his words) At first he was sort of on the fence but now he is full on switched. He already feels the party left him years ago and now they just went to damn far.

Let's see... she's all about family values and her daughter got pregnant very very early. Oh yea she'll be absolutely fantastic. On top of everything she managed to laugh of cancer survivor. I simply don't understand some of you!

The only concern most people should have is, if the kid is Palins and not her daughter, well what kind of mother who has a baby with downs syndrome, not to mention is only 4 months old takes such a demanding position? And, also with her firm prolife views, how many more kids will she have while in office, should Mccain win.

I would have voted for them if they aborted. But now, no abortion, pfft... I juts can't vote for them.

I think that most of the people who are busy digging up dirt on Palin are partisans with a deep dislike for Republicans who would never have considered voting for McCain anyway. Obviously to the partisan left this is a very big deal but I am not sure it will resonate with swing voter types.

She is very popular with the Republican base and none of these things will change that fact. I think the left would be wise to focus on her relative lack of experience rather than attack her family.

I actually think that it is a stroke of luck for McCain that the left has gone so crazy digging up dirt on her family. It will provide the Republicans a shield for later more substantive attacks because they will be able to dismiss all criticisms as "tabloid" smears. I think in this case the left is its own worst enemy. They should have stuck to attacking her positions and inexperience.

This current line of assault it is likely to have the result of most middle of the road types who are not very political feeling like she is being unfairly attacked, smeared and victimized. Everyone has family problems of these sorts. You may recall the Hillary Clinton's popularity soared after she started being perceived as a victim following Bill's impeachment.

It makes me wonder if she can't make her opinions / policies i.e. Abstence Only work in her own household... how is she going to make it work for the rest of the country?

imho Abstence Only doesn't work and this is a great example.

It doesn't mean anything to me personally - but if I were from the extreme Christian right exposing all that is "right" and my 16/17 year old got pregnant I would think it is hypocritical. I think she is going to catch some flack on "family values" issues!

I'm sure that you realize that most of the anti-porn laws coming out of congress are sponsored by democrats, right???

As for the question, it won't stop my from voting republican... Obama scares the crap out of me. As for the family trying to hide private stuff about their family issues, I don't care. Most parents can't really stop their teenagers from doing screwed up stuff anyway.

*If* I were going to vote republican the idea that her unwed daughter is pregnant would have no negative bearing on my vote.

If anything, I think it adds some reality and character to the situation and her experience. It certainly makes her more human and in touch with what regular people, both republicans and democrats alike, experience despite best parenting efforts.

personally I dont care but It does send me a message when the second in command of the country does NOT support sex education in schools yet has a 16 year old daughter having unprotected sex. That says all there is that needs to be said about that.

If the rumor is true it also means she is willing to "out" her daughter for political advancement. That in itself is troubling.

It humanizes her and also bears witness to how confusing her stance is on sex education and birth control in light of her daughter's predicament.

Yet, I think both parties recognize that the 'party of family values' slogan has been a transparent canard for years. Nobody seems to vote based on 'family values' anyway - they seem to vote overwhelmingly on economic and foriegn policy positions.

He has none, if it wasnt for clinton and Janet Reno not seeing going after adult porn as important. and a waste of resources. Most in our industry would be working at starbucks. The greatest hits porn has taken started with Nixon, then Reagan and now bush. What do they all have in common? Now Mccain has the church lady at his side, if any one votes republican and really works in our industry they aren't very bright. Why is it all the icon's of our industry are democrats ?
