Anyone use Twitter?
 

The thing is always too full so pages don't load. So far I am not impressed.

I just signed up but haven't done anything with it yet. The concept is great.

Really??I've heard good things about it...

It is a micro blogging service. You post links, thoughts, ideas, jokes, etc no longer than 140 characters.

The real point of it is who you follow though. And what you can get from that. So, digg.com founder Kevin Rose now has over 55k followers. It is a broadcast medium.

The only similarity with facebook is the facebook status. It's kinda like that, but in an RSS feed. You can update your twitter via SMS or the web, or standalone twitter client like twitterific. You can respond directly to other people's messages or send them direct PMs.

There are quite a few porn related people on it already. I've not seen it used by any stars yet, and I think that would be interesting.

It's still in the realm of the geek for now, but when some major celeb starts using it I can see it tipping over into the mainstream.

Thanks for the detailed insight, Damian. I find even facebook eats away too much of one's time, looks like twitter would require even more time and small annoyances like sms's.... maybe later when it gets crazy popular like Facebook I should check it out seriously.

I use twitter, and it already is crazy-popular in my circle.

It's also really effective for keeping our members posted about what we're doing right at the moment: we have our most recent thirteen tweets right on our members-only pages.

It's a great tool, but yeah -- they didn't plan for it to be so popular so it does suck with downtime, etc. Been better the past month or so, though, and I have hope for it if they would fucking monetize it and stop being so amateur.

It depends what you do it for. I just do it for personal stuff at the moment. No *real* point.

However, I'm working on 10 new sologirl sites and part of the plan for that is that all the girls will do regular twitter posts.

Imagine if a real massive porn star used it...could be very big, free promotion that also encourages user interaction. Very www.cluetrain.com

I don't get the concept of following...

It's been good for keeping track of people during the hurricane, since it's accessable from some many mobile routes (text in or twitter apps).
I'm sure it'll collect dust with the exception of moments like that though, since there are already soooo many social networking apps out there.
