Google Browser on Tuesday
Should be interesting.
Was there a Beta for it? |
Got a link? I haven't seen it listed as a definite.

Surprised this is not really a big topic of discussion this is pretty huge news for all of us. |
another browser to code for, no thank you. FF and IE6,7,8 is enough for me
|
As far as I know Google have always funded Mozilla.
Be interesting to see what they have come up with but I would think it will be some time before it's a great option. |
I'll probably check it out. I will most likely stick with FireFox, though.

Not to mention, I wonder how long before this browser phones home with surfing data to the Google mothership. |

( webkit is very similar to the gecko rendering of Moz, FF etc ) |

Will there be all sorts of useful extensions? If it can't do all my loaded up Firefox can do, I don't see the point.
I'm sure plenty of average, everyday users will put it to good use. |
They will tie it heavily into their Google free apps and then have you lock, stock and barrel. Why bother tracking a cookie when the browser can phone home to Google and tell them everything about what your looking at.
Hmmm.. scary. |

bump bump

Google becomes scarier every day, but for some strange reason people keep bashing Microsoft and ignore that google has become MUCH worse.
|
interesting
|
It'll be popular because everybody orgasms about Google.
|
Google has enough data from me, I won't be using their browser anytime soon. Or their email, or their IM...
|
It is an Open Source browser..so I am sure that any possible nasties/privacy issues will be found out by some geeks who can understand the code.
Also it uses WebKit, so webpages should render well in Google's Chrome Browser if they render in Safari. Only thing is it has its own custom built Javascript engine, so any fancy JS may need to be tested. However, I won't switch to it (in the near future) for development work, etc, unless it gets plugins like FireBug (ChromeBug? hehe) developed for it. |

I'll check it out. Looks like they've done some good work under the hood. Though it may go the way of Google Talk, it is open source and will likely add to browser development over all.
|
Fuck them, and anyone who thinks they are great.

That's just in case nobody pointed it out to you already. |

How have some of their other products performed? Like Google Checkout for example?
|

since google will probably stop funding it... |

Chrome will not end that. |
I can't wait to test it.
:) |
It did mention some pretty cool technical improvements. Here is a "comic book" of what it does:
http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/# Lack of privacy is the first thing that jumped into mind. But my IP is static so they know every time I log-in with an alias, what I search for, and what I buy. I can haz privacy plz? |
