Palin increases taxes

Quote:

Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry ? a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.

Did she flip-flop on this and change her mind now? Or does she believe Obama has it right?

klaze 09-03-2008 07:51 PM

Uhh.. I dunno what yer point is.. that article talks about how she taxed oil companies and increased the wealth for the state and it's people..

Some of that new cash will end up in the wallets of Alaska's residents.

Did you read my comments under the link? My point was that she increased taxes and supported Obama's idea, in opposition to McCain's. Has she changed her mind about that too since then?

Reading comprehension. :2 cents:

The question (three times now) was did she change her mind or does she support Obama's ideas and oppose McCain's? The forum isn't all Republican or Democrat. There are many independents that don't want insane spending, liars, tax increases, etc...

Palin has no problem increasing taxes on corporate profits. Do you support that too? Yes or no?

Brujah 09-05-2008 03:50 PM

Where are all the knowledgeable Republicans? I just want to know if she changed her mind. Does anyone know where Palin stands on increasing taxes today?

Manny_Kaye 09-05-2008 03:51 PM

That's ok, what about taxes? Will she want to raise them again?

The Truth Hurts 09-05-2008 03:56 PM

Didn't she come right out and use that as a selling point in her acceptance speech?
The tax increase was on the oil companies.. who were already getting a break... was it not? (I may be mistaken)
Obama wants to tax everyone more...

the speech she made was very good, and extremely empty.

The point she had about the 'bridge to nowhere'.. Alaska cancelled that project because they would have to pay for most of it, yet in her speech she stated that they didn't build the bridge because they wanted to build it themselves.

i know politicians lie, but seriously?

"If our state wanted a bridge, we'd build it ourselves."

I don't think she has been challenged on this particular issue yet. Her position as Governor is obviously closer to Obama's than McCain's. Personally I would rather see oil company profits be put into more exploration and production or be paid out to investors as opposed to being wasted on big government programs and corruption.

McCain said: Obama "gave big oil billions in subsidies and giveaways," citing his votes for a 2005 energy bill.

Weird, I remember hearing her bash Obama about taxes during the first few minutes of her atrocious acceptance speech.

Yeah she used it as a selling point which is strange considering that the party she's running for should be opposed to taxing businesses of any kind, oil included. Smaller government.
