John McCain's presidential campaign is threatening a lawsuit against the National Enquirer over a print edition story the tabloid ran today alleging that Gov. Sarah Palin has had an extramarital affair with her husband's business partner.

Oddly and I can not think I am saying this. As a print company getting such scoops, the Enquirer has been pretty spot on beating everyone to the punch.

Makes me give this a likely fact ratio of about 75% at this time, they may have some small part wrong.

The country may be quasi fucked, however choosing our new leaders should be based on more than "trust me" and hypocrisy should typically be exposed. I really am sick of the whole do as I say and not as I do mentality.

Maybe if the "leaders" didn't play childish games, try and play "gotcha", lie about everything etc., then people wouldn't be so rabbid about trying to tear them down.

Damn, I still say I've never seen a public demolition of someone like this...ever. Sure, other figures get attacked, but this has been all in the span of just a few days.

I don't think McCain's people "vetted" her at all except on the surface. I don't think he would've chosen her as the best candidate of all his choices, but I suppose it's possible.

When you make a stand on an issue you had better be sure you can't be caught out doing the opposite.

McCain and Palin both said family values are important. Not sure what family values they keep to.

I think some of it is simply that nobody knew her then out of nowhere she is the VP candidate and the press went fishing to find out about her and quickly found dirt and that dirt was just too good to pass up.
