How old is your oldest t-shirt?

Most of my stuff didn't make the journey over from the States to the UK so I am sure there are some gems sitting somewhere in a room back with my folks. However, I did bring over my 1995 R.E.M. Monster tour shirts (moved here in 1996 so they were new then) and they are still holding up pretty good under regular wear.

What is your oldest t-shirt that you still wear and what is the shirt?

A concert shirt from a 1978 Rolling Stones show. It is so threadbare that you can see through it now

Barefootsies 09-05-2008 04:42 AM

It must be from the stone age. My sister refers to it as a cave man shirt.

It's so old, and ripped, and torn that it looks like a Fred Flintstone get up.

:1orglaugh

Mine would be 11 years old and I still wear it every now and then.

munki 09-05-2008 05:08 AM

Mine is from the first date of their Some Girls tour. I lived in Lakeland, Fla. back then and it's from the opening show they did at the Lakeland Civic Center. Fucking good times!

Old work shirt from 1992. Toyota spare parts. God I hated that job. Some Indian fuck purchased the spare parts devision and fired us all, then hired all Indians.

It reminds me I will never go back to working for someone else.

I have a Bill the Cat t-shirt that is at least 24 years old. I haven't put it on in many years, but it hangs in the closet.

Ross 09-05-2008 06:13 AM

Damn I feel a bit gay.. my oldest t shirt is a little over 1 year old. I buy new clothes all the time, and when a t shirt gets a bit worn I normally chuck it or put it into charity bags and send it to the stores. Most times I'm going out I go and buy new t shirts or shirt.

Spunky 09-05-2008 06:19 AM

Probably about 10 years

CyberHustler 09-05-2008 06:48 AM

A little over a year... only wore it once and will never wear it again. The only reason I haven't thrown it away or given it away yet is because it has a small memory stain with a funny story behind it.

I'm from NY, we stay fresh.

It isn't about being gay or whatnot..it is just that a lot of people buy t-shirts as reminders from events or gigs and as times go on they become a bit of nostalgia.

JamesK 09-05-2008 07:17 AM

And I thought my GFY shirts were old :1orglaugh

Sarah_Jayne 09-05-2008 07:51 AM

lol..I have so many shirts from webmaster boards from when giving them out for reaching 100 posts or something was the trend. My GFY hoodie hasn't been worn much lately..should get it out.

sperbonzo 09-05-2008 07:58 AM

The scary thing is that I am now getting old enough that my first thought was that it wasn't that long ago.

theharvman 09-05-2008 08:42 AM

My oldest shirt is a Body Glove tee from maybe '90. The only reason I have it is because I was wearing it when my house burned down in '97 and I lost everything.
They don't make good Body Glove shirts like they did back then.

XBIZOliver 09-05-2008 08:50 AM

An "Exchange City" t-shirt I bought in 5th grade. I wear it on laundry day -- I was really fat in fifth grade.

Paco, of Large Cash. 09-05-2008 09:00 AM

My plain/regular t-shirts rarely last me two years because they tend to get shredded by quartzite while climbing. I simply do not ""do"" those with slogans, logos, pictures et cetera.

My oldest:
- jeans are 22yo.
- dress shirt is over 30yo (hand-me-down from brothers)
- shoes are close to 40yo (hand-me-down)
- blue suede suit is circa '68

Rebel D 09-05-2008 09:07 AM

My oldest is an Ol Ozzy Shirt i go tfrom a friend in trade for smoke money. it was used then so probally like 1987ish. still wear it but as someone else sais you can see through it. No one makes t shirts like rock shirts. they last forever

Vicious_B 09-05-2008 09:22 AM

My oldest shirt I use as a night shirt. Its a Dr Who baseball style shirt that is so unbelievably soft I could never get rid of it.

justinsain 09-05-2008 09:23 AM

I've picked up quite a few event T-shirts over the years but many have been retired because they no longer fit.
I grabbed a few out of the closet for a quick pic.

1991 Venus Swimwear Pageant
1993 INXS Superboat National Champion
1987 Hard Rock Hawaii surf contest

A Bad Boys " Don't Drink and Drive " from the 1980s
Still get a lot of looks when I wear that :1orglaugh

How old is the Dr Who shirt? I won't go all geek and ask which doctor because that would be too sad..oops.

klaze 09-05-2008 10:41 AM

I don't like old clothes as I can't wear them cause they look old.. but..

I'd say the oldest tshirt is the Stussy one i'm wearing now from when I was like 16.. It's just used as a bed / under type shirt now..
