Build your own solar panels

I think all this guy needs is redshoe to narrate the construction and a cool website to promote it like he did the skull kit. :1orglaugh

A solar cell is a device for converting energy from the sun into electricity. The high-efficiency solar cells you can buy at Radio Shack and other stores are made from highly processed silicon, and require huge factories, high temperatures, vacuum equipment, and lots of money.

Hmmmmmmmm

Sansa 09-07-2008 02:35 PM

Now you need to build a couple of thousand of these to power a light bulb.

I prefer the potato clock, personally. Not only do you get a really really really tiny LCD clock, but it smells awful as it begins to rot. :thumbsup

"Don't expect to light light bulbs or charge batteries with this device. It can be used as a light detector or light meter, but it would take acres of them to power your house. "

this thread is useless

you can't even power a tiny light bulb with this

which means you would need a deck full of it to get the same power of a AA battery

Nah - but you don't want to use acidic items that produce electricity; if you use lemons it will chew the plating off of the wires.

I miss 8 year old science sometimes, some of it was awesome.

Best I ever did was use a solar cell to trip a relay connected to an incredibly obnoxious buzzer. So, you know, you could uh, know the sun was still there.

Useless if you expected something other then a fun little experiment for shits and giggles:1orglaugh

You think I'm going to tell you how to really do it here ? Try the homemade hydrogen bomb experiment if you really want to be unimpressed :thumbsup

I started with this one,
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=44768
and then this one
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=41144

They both worked but I needed more power to run this,
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=95596
Now I have plenty of 110 Volt power and I never have to run my generator.:thumbsup
