TV is completely unwatchable

The so-called entertainment value of reality shows has waned. Your typical sitcom is a cheap imitation that can only amuse retards. Commercials are more patronizing and condescending as ever.

The only channels I can even watch anymore are history channel and discovery, with some PBS smattered in.

klaze 09-11-2008 10:31 AM

I love TV.. Rerun sitcoms and cooking shows..

and it's Thursday might be a new episode of American Chopper w000t.

Discovery and PBS? what kind of nerd.... err nm..

I'm watching Steve Harvey right now...

Agreed. ...and if I really want to zone out there are all the cable news stations running all the exact same clips...

notime 09-11-2008 11:35 AM

what's a TV ?

L-Pink 09-11-2008 11:38 AM

I quit paying for satellite years ago and just watch occasional sports on local channels.

Tom_PM 09-11-2008 11:41 AM

"reality" anymore is utterly utterly meaningless. Do you know that they're calling that gameshow Deal or no Deal a REALITY show now?

All shows with a prize at the end are game shows. Hate to break it to TV execs.. but you've lost your nut. Amazing race? Game show. Survivor? Game show. Apprentice? Game show. The Price is right? Game show.

"Reality" is just lipstick on a pig.

buyandsell 09-11-2008 11:43 AM

i haven't had TV for a about a year. I just hooked up a laptop on a TV card since they are sending the signal into my house but its lame
I wouldn't care if they unhook it I won't be paying for it if they do

That's why I don't watch or own TV for more than three years now - waste of time.

If I want to watch a movie I don't need a TV for that.

There is only one local channel I remeber that I miss, used to be a great mixture of some real documentaries (not those who are trying in somewhat a popular way educate retards about very obvious things), mainly interested in modern history, it wasn't financed from commercials therefore they could really provide a program that didn't need to be watched by millions.

Used to watch bunch of classic movies from the 50's / 60's with Bogart / Brando then the late night movie club where I explored such great directors as Almodovar, Kusturica , Mike Leigh, Ken Leach, bunch of music documentaries and artist profiles - good times.

Yeah, tv does suck nowadays, there's only very few shows that are actually decent to watch, as far as sitcoms go, Til Death is about the only sitcom that's actually funny.

Totally agree. TV has nosedived since the eighties, used to be you could switch on any night and see something decent, now all you get are fucking retards getting their fifteen minutes, and to think, in the UK we actually have to pay for a license to watch this shit :1orglaugh

MorningWood Stefen 09-11-2008 12:12 PM

My three favorite shows are...

Manswers
Three Sheets
Dirty Jobs

In that order.

d-null 09-11-2008 12:15 PM

I don't even have a tv set up anymore, complete waste of time.

Klen 09-11-2008 12:16 PM

I don't watch TV, I work and have fun

Libertine 09-11-2008 12:35 PM

I'm kinda getting into TV at the moment, actually. Shows like House, Dexter and Scrubs are pretty good.

JamesK 09-11-2008 12:50 PM

Yep, too bad Discovery is now also showing some shitty commercials. I especially can't stand ringtone commercials, they make my fucking blood boil.

Discovery Travel and Travel Channel are also great, btw.

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile now. I never watch the fucking thing.

The only thing stopping me is that I sometimes like to DVR something now and again.

Exactly how I felt. I haven't subscribed to tv service for a little over a year.

AGREED! :1orglaugh ...bout as rediculous as 90% of the so-called musicians in the music scene now.

Sly 09-11-2008 02:14 PM

There are some good shows, it just depends what you are into.

The Office
House
Entourage
The Shield
24
Lost

And then there are the "educational channels" like Food, Discovery, HGTV, Animal Planet, History, etc.

Rochard 09-11-2008 02:22 PM
