If you use the porn biz mentality...

If you use the same mentality that this industry has and apply it to any every day application, you can see the amount of free samples given out is ridiculous. It would be the equivalent of going into your local grocery store and having someone hand you a half a loaf of bread in HOPES that you'll buy the rest of the loaf of bread. Sure, you'll make some sales, but, lots of people will take your half loaf of bread, go make a sandwich and come back next week for another half loaf. Giving away only a half piece of bread, curiosity if nothing else is going to sell more bread than anything. People want another taste. When they come back, you have to turn them away and say, "No, I'm sorry, you've already had your sample. Now you'll have to buy the bread to have another taste." You only have to be sure that the bread is tasty and fresh.

If it's quantity of bread that you're trying to focus on, then put a big stack of bread behind you as you're handing out the free sample, but don't let a consumer take a bite out of every loaf of bread in that stack. Noone's gonna want to pay you for your bread if they can get full off the bites you're feeding them.:winkwink:

Sorry I was bored and on ICQ talking about the amounts of free porn given away. Happy Thursday...

Yeah I see you point Nick...but keep in mind that our biz model is very different than the food one.....

Chris 09-11-2008 12:06 PM

well what about prechecked cross sales where you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to read

that is kinda like getting your half of loaf of bread at the store and then going to the register to get your free bread but what you dont know is that if you dont call them and tell them you dont want any more free bread in 3 days they will charge you for a full loaf of bread

After Shock Media 09-11-2008 12:10 PM

Wait! someone has penis extenders, breast pills, and dick pills in their sig and they bring up cross sales?

Ah nevermind, just not going to get into it.

Free samples are very important...

ultimatebbwdotcom 09-11-2008 12:11 PM

I'm with you on this one Nick - too much free stuff

NickPapageorgio 09-11-2008 12:12 PM

Nah, not really. Supply and demand. You are selling a product, plain and simple. If there was less free porn readily available on the internet, sales conversions would be much higher. But, it'd be like trying to herd cats at this point with so many companies that base their business model on giving away more and more. I can see what they are thinking, but it hurts the business as a whole.

To compare it, think like this. If you have 2 bread stands, and bread vendor A is giving away half a loaf of bread for anyone who walks up compared to vendor B who is only giving away a single bite per potential customer. He's naturally going to have more "traffic" to his stand, but he's going to waste a hell of a lot more bread than vendor B. If vendor A and vendor B both give away a single bite, at that point it becomes a contest of taste. Once the potential customer has become full from vendor A giving away his half a loaf, vendor B suffers, even if his bread is much better tasting because the potential customer is walking home nice and full.

Well, personally, I'd never shop at that store again. BUT...I would NOT stop buying bread.

i love your gif....such a great show...

Not bad. Look at television though. Shows play for free all day and even though you watch family guy, simpsons, ect 10 times per day or more on it, they still sell millions of dvds every time a new season comes out.

Yes, I see what you're saying there, but I would count those pretty much like recurring sales. The porn business doesn't depend on advertising for the bulk of it's revenue the way that standard television does. Well...affiliate programs anyway. I would compare T.V. to TGPs or Link lists etc.

That's probably the dumbest analogy I've ever read on GFY.

Seriously.

Not really, depends on your sales background.

Kudles 09-11-2008 01:44 PM

I want free samples

It's all good. I wouldn't expect a TGP/Promotion site owner to really care about this analogy really. You depend on them (programs) giving away as much free porn as possible to make your money, and that's fine. This conversation doesn't really apply to your business model per se. You are the television show in this example. People come back to your "channel" to watch the free show and you depend on the paid ad spots and affiliate sign ups to make your dough. I'm saying that sign ups to affiliate programs would be higher if the samples were given away a little less liberally. The standard sales model for ANY product is tease the potential buyer into submission.

If car dealerships used the porn biz mentality, they'd let you test drive every car on the lot for 3 months each, hoping and praying that you'd finally decide to buy one. What you end up with is a lot full of used cars.:2 cents:

Or you buy your loaf of bread, and get to the car only to realize you've also been charged for a log of cheese, a ham, 3 smoked salmon, a can of cream corn, and a jar of dill pickles.

klaze 09-11-2008 03:51 PM

I've been getting off to free sample since before I actually could get cum to squirt out of my dick.

Same with my friends.. My friends think TGPs etc are just free porn put online by nice guys.

I'm telling you their is TOO much free porn on the web you affiliates fucked the industry with yer bandwagon ideas to make money.

I wonder how much more money Steve Lightspeed would be if he didn't give soo much free content.

Hell sign up to myfreepaysite and you have TONS of older lightspeed content.. but enuff that a surfer wouldn't need to pay for it..
