subdomain (only) hosting question
A friend is hosting a domain. (HalcyonRules.com)
I need to host a subdomain on a different host. (Imsocool.HalcyonRules.com) What do I need to do? Does he use my host's DNS servers for the subdomain? Does his DNS point to my servers? ??? Thanks! |
whatever dns halcyonrules.com is using -- just create an "A Record" for the subdomain to point to the IP of wherever the subdomain is being hosted.

So, if I want to host the subdomain on dreamhost (I know I know) then I need to find out my server IP from dreamhost and give it to my friend? Then just set up a directory for that subdomain? (sorry, tech things make my brain hurt.) |

(after adding subdomain just click on the "DNS" link next to the subdomain at dreamhost, and use the ip you see there) then you need to contact the other host to add new A record like TidalWave has said... |

hmmm. it looks like it won't let me add the subdomain of a domain I don't control. |

(the domain will just sit there, not doing anything, it will still be hosted at the other host) |
