Vladimir Putin, world's most powerful individual - Vanity Fair

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,415902,00.html

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has knocked Rupert Murdoch off Vanity Fair?s annual list of the world?s 100 most powerful and influential people, the Daily Telegraph reported Wenesday.

I predict a German-Russian dominated EU in the coming decades, with next to no Anglo-American influence. It is what the US and Britain fear, and it is what will be best for Europe.

Odin 09-15-2008 10:29 PM

But I seriously doubt the validity of this list, when Angelina Jolie is the 9th most powerful person in the world? LOL. Why? Because she can encourage a few sheep to adopt a black kid. She has no real power, that is obvious. To put her above people like Sumner Redstone who runs Viacom/CBS is a joke.

I have to agree, the Brangelina nomination is a fucking Joke... But as per Putin, he's one hell of a smart man, dangerously smart.

That's why U.S. leaders look like such pussies on the world stage. Leaders of other countries worked their way up, brokering power and avoiding coups and assassination attempts and all other kinds of bullshit.

What's the back story of our leaders? 6 years at Harvard? What a fucking joke. No wonder guys like Putin and the leader of Iran mop the floor with our bonehead presidents.

Why's that? I actually don't think the guy has done that well for the country, he has been fortunate with Russia's natural resources, and more or less has just stabilized the political situation, and meanwhile has ignored some of Russia's most pressing problems such as it's massively declining birth-rates. However, he hasn't done particularly bad by anyone major, including the US or the EU, or his own people, so why would he deserve a bullet in the head? Because he doesn't wholeheartedly bow to the American's and the British who want everyone to submit before their will? Russia could be a partner, but it has no reason to accept a completely submissive role. The neo-con/Zionists are pushing Russia into the cold, and whatever you may think it is becoming clear to me at least that Russia is starting to fight back, and that doesn't mean militarily.

McCain supporter?

I can agree that Putin has done better with his country than Bush done with America.

Both these scumbags got alot in common also. Bush would have made a great Fascist Dictator if given the chance. Luckily he could only pull it off for 8 years. IN the Soviet Union it is pretty safe to say Bush would have been recognised as a moron however and would have probably got himself killed trying to rise to power through the KGB.

From the great world of What if's...

I can see the argument. There is something about not needing to play by the rules about him for sure but it appears to be working for him.

Germany is becoming very closely tied in with Russia and vice versa. At this point they are natural allies. Russia knows Germany is the engine room of the European economy and that they have a massive amount of power in the EU. The US is still trying to push its influence with NATO and particularly with the influence they have over that little parasite Britain which itself is still trying to prevent any real continental power from rising.

Part of the reason, though not the whole reason Turkey is being pushed towards the EU from an Anglo-American perspective (and Britain and the US are the main powers initiating it) is to weaken any potential of a single continental power rising by diluting the populations of Europe. Russia may well play a very important counterbalancing role in Europe yet.

40% of all gas in Germany originates from Russia. 40% of all gas in EU originates from Russia. EU in many questions doesn't support Russia's policy (like in that Georgia-Osetia conflict) but they have nothing to do but accept each Russia's step since they depend on their resources too much.

It's hard to say whether I support such Putin's strategy of resource domination in Europe or not. Within 2007 the number of Russian oligarchs has doubled but the main country population stays very poor. However now they're making significant steps in social policy and hopefully in future it will balance the income difference between the rich and the poor in the country.
