Amateur Models... why do they fuck you around ??

Why do they phone up and sound like they really want to do a shoot then ring up a day before and cancel it..just wasting my fucking time

If they at least called you to cancel, consider yourself lucky.

Pleasurepays 09-16-2008 03:30 AM

why are people always surprised that a person who wants to bear it all for the world has issues?

cardinalvices 09-16-2008 03:35 AM

If they give you a call thats good :)
They are underpaid and uncertain if they want to do this or not.

Listen to yourself: A-MA-TEUR models. That should be a hint!
Otherwise known as not professional. Get it?

They have a completely different mindset.

Three great comments. Would just like to add one.

Amateur models are amateur or first timers/newish. Them changing their mind is a good thing. If you have shot them. Having an average girl who was new and then three months later has 50 scenes under her belt and another 50 booked is worthless. Yes the great ones are great, I said average.

Of course if you have not shot them it sucks, but it comes with the type of model.

Truth :2 cents:

They are new in the biz, and they still don't know will they be in the biz or it's just for some $$$ or for fun, or some other mental stuff.

seeandsee 09-16-2008 04:42 AM

Why did she cancel? Car accident? Ill mom? Dead relative? Ill cat? Dead cat? Broken car? Ill grandmother? Boyfriend found out? Got her period? Forgot about her sisters marriage? Car stolen? Pick your poison!

CIVMatt 09-16-2008 05:49 AM

I think you covered it all :thumbsup

Nikki_Licks 09-16-2008 06:00 AM

I am pretty sure the above comments covered it all. It is something you will have to get use to if your shooting content. I have had some call and cancel an hour before or not call at all. It's the nature of this game we all love to play :2 cents:

Manowar 09-16-2008 06:03 AM

this thread has summed it up

welcome to the world of flakes

Pleasurepays 09-16-2008 06:20 AM

my experience from running tons of cam studios and guess is that "amateur" is probably not much different... girls know they need money on friday or have some specific need.. so they talk themselves into doing something they really don't want to do or don't feel good about doing in the first place..hence, they will have a high rate of flaking out after they have time to really think about it or at that moment when it comes time to actually pull the trigger and they idea they were trying to get comfortable with becomes a sudden reality that takes on a whole new meaning.

Lycanthrope 09-16-2008 06:26 AM

Because they are wimmens

tranza 09-16-2008 07:13 AM

That's because they're not professionals!

Fletch XXX 09-16-2008 07:13 AM

98% of the ppl in this world or flaky, unreliable, etc... look up personalities, you will find, most intelligent people (leaders etc) are less than 1% of the world pop.

sue 09-16-2008 07:59 AM

Because they are amateurs..........

*hugs and kisses*

Quoted for the truth!

:warning

JP-pornshooter 09-16-2008 10:08 AM

the worst thing to shoot is gg or b/g/g shoots..
more girls you need in a scene increase the cancellation ratio exponentially
so with 2 girls, it is 4 times more likely to cancel on you compared to a regular b/g or solo shoot.
and usually the girl who does show up still expects to get paid.. go figure.

Kudles 09-16-2008 10:12 AM

That sucks

Actually, you.

It's the job of the producer to get everything to the set. Cameras. Cameramen. Power. Grips. Water. Models. Agents. Everything.

You failed on one minor, yet crucial detail. No model. In a real business you'd be fired. In this playground, you get to bitch on a board. Enjoy.

Actually, you directed your comment at jp pornshooter, not me. I did not fail at anything.
I always have a backup and my sets and shoots run smoothly.
Now go suck your tranny infested dick...bitch...bastard or whatever you call yourself.

Next, you will tell us you are a producer, right?

DestroDamus 09-16-2008 11:01 AM

You can never be surprised what a porn chic does, expect the worst! Unless her rate is really high!!

Brad Gosse 09-16-2008 11:27 AM

I usually try to book in a few each day so I can deal with the no shows.

I expect a 50% cancelation rate.

Pornstuck 09-16-2008 11:30 AM

Because they are Amateur's duhh..

SilentKnight 09-16-2008 11:47 AM

Dealin' with flakey, amateur wannabe models is an occupational hazard and to be expected.

We've had our share of no-show models over the years, or first-time amateurs who balk when they realize they aren't getting a few grand for a few hours of shooting. Many wannabe models have misconceptions about the industry and the money and think they're entitled to a king's ransom in wage right from the start.

As others have pointed out - be thankful they even called to cancel. Much of the time you don't even get that courtesy.

Better that they cancel before a shoot rather than come back at you weeks later and beg you not to publish/distribute the shots. I'd sooner have someone flake from the start than deal with the 'regret' confrontation after the work's been done.

this is the real world.. but i cant fire myself, just take the loss and learn.

most of the models i book are through an agency, it cuts down the cancellation ratio somewhat but not at all entirely.
The thing is when you deal with an agency, the model have no "negotiation power", if something goes wry, you contact the agency and work it out. So if the agency are supposed to deliver two models, but only one show up, guess who's problem the compensation of the one model becomes? bingo.. agency, but still a wasted day for you and possible location and support staff expenses out the window.

RTP 09-16-2008 11:59 AM

this is why some production studios wont even work with new and first-timers. no show for production cost hurts. everything said is true, they are not professionals, back out or excuses...it's like getting someone who has no responsibility in life to show up for a job.

for the person interfacing with the model...the first line of contact, agency or whoever...it takes hand holding, cultivating a relationship with them and communication - not many people have time to do this and even if you do there is still a big chance on a flake

Can always charge a 20% off the top of whatever you could make for the scene and call it good.

They want the shot burried that bad, hey, they can get a loan, or whatever.

No rose without torns, and often enough it doesn't even take a rose.

I guess what you do is compare overbooking costs vs cancellation costs, and find a sweetspot.
