Not possible.

The NatNet sales chickie at the Atlanta Forum told me they have never been completely down ever that she knows of since she has been there. They have the industry's most solid uptime. Switch to them today, even though more expensive than my current hosting. They are truly managed service.

:2 cents:

Thats a crock of bull because nat net actually has the most downtime (of any host that posts here) that I have seen in many months.

I bet you even pay more for that great uptime and service......:1orglaugh

Look....I won't even get into discussing agendas here because people are smart enough to click on a name and click on the "find more posts" link. ;)

The facts: Yes, there was a brief outage (less than 30 minutes). Yes, we corrected the issue and are taking preventative steps to make sure that it doesn't happen again. Yes, we are deeply troubled that this is the third time something has happened in as many months. No, we don't anticipate this to be an issue in the future.

More facts: Due to the sheer magnitude of the sites that we host, if we go down for 2.5 minutes there are immediately threads all over the internet discussing them. Other hosting companies have outages for hours that go unnoticed because nobody really cares.

Everyone is back online now and making money so lets all go back to doing the same.

Thanks!

What a terrible attitude. 3 times in as many months is not a great record especially for a host more expensive that many others :2 cents:

You know what, MarcJacob....you are exactly right. That was a pretty bad attitude on my part. For that, I apologize. I am just frustrated that we bust our ass to make sure that we are at 100% all the time and we go for literally years without any issues and then in a matter of 3 months we have 3 events. PLease accept my apology.

The bottom line is that all hosts have issues from time to time and we are not immortal so it will happen to use from time to time, as well. I guess I just take it very personally and my customers love us for it.

Again, I apologize to you and everyone else for the attitude, as well as for the outage and I commit to you that I will bust my ass to make sure that we go years before the next one.

Sorry dude I shouldnt have jumped on you. I think people do expect alot more from Nat Net than any other host. I guess you created that :) Going years with nothing significant (until recently) is a superb record :thumbsup

Good post ....

If you saw the movie " 21 " , Spacek says ( maybe not word to word, but the essence )at one point :

You are worth to me as much as what you won the last time... everything before doesn't exist "....

You had some bad luck there .... most here understands.

zentz 09-24-2008 06:22 AM

is it down for anyone?

Wow, what kind of statement is that???

Seems like a totally uncalled attack.

Tat2Jr 09-24-2008 07:05 AM

Back up now.

I've been with National Net since almost day one. Love their service. Love their TRUE 24/7 tech support - I've even had a tech answer the phone within 2 rings on Christmas day one year. Shit happens, and with National Net it RARELY happens. I'll take a few half hour outages after almost a decade of uptime over most of the other server companies I've delt with. Most of the other companies 24/7 tech means you send an "emergency" email and they'll try to get back to ya within 24 hours, 7 if your lucky. Or the "really fancy ones" have an answering service - ohhhhh! :( National Net has real tech - all day, every day. Anyway, if SweetT says they're making sure what's happened doesn't happen again I totally believe him, and look forward to another decade of uptime. :2 cents:

That's the biggest bunch of bull. Basically any and all the hosts that post here on a regular basis will get called out when they have a network wide downtime.:2 cents: You don't see to many of these downtime threads because they don't happen, it's not because "nobody really cares" ....That's a really arrogant statement. Anyway natnet is down again today.:helpme

zentz 09-24-2008 07:14 AM

i changed over 5 hosting companies and natnet is by far the best one i've ever been with.

they had a few small downtimes lately but thats really nothing compared to all the other hosting companies.

Hi there,

If you read a bit further down, you'll also see an apology for the tone of that message

As I just posted a second ago, if you read the entire thread, you'll see where Tony apologized for those remarks (guess you somehow missed that)

With regards to the brief downtime, the load balancer that sits in front of our DNS cluster locked up yesterday. Our vendor found and corrected a software bug and assured us that all was okay. Apparently that was not the case because it locked up again this morning. We noticed it immediately and replaced it with another load balancer from a different vendor (the total outage was about 8 minutes).

Needless to say, that vendor will be paying us a visit today to explain why this occurred again, and I do apologize for the issues.

Should you have questions about this SpeakEasy, I can be reached at bill AT nationalnet DOT com or 888-4-NATNET.

Thanks
