Who's gettin the GOOGLE phone?
Google phone to cost $179, debut Oct. 22
The first cell phone running Google Inc.'s mobile software looks something like Apple Inc.'s iPhone and has a large touch screen, but it also packs a trackball, a slide-out keyboard and easy access to Google's e-mail and mapping programs. The phone will be sold in T-Mobile stores only in the U.S. cities where the company has rolled out its faster, third-generation wireless data network. By launch, that will be 21 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Miami. In other areas, people will be able to buy the phone from T-Mobile's Web site. The phone does work on T-Mobile's slower data network, but it's optimized for the faster networks. It can also connect at Wi-Fi hotspots. http://img.breitbart.com/images/2008...dae4c778e8.jpg http://img.breitbart.com/images/2008...d270ed2c85.jpg |
I'm going to be on this like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

I won't be getting it. It doesn't support A2DP, and the camera doesn't do video. It also doesn't have a 2.5mm headphone jack.
It has a proprietary USB connector that requires an adapter to use headphones. How do they expect us to use that Amazon.com music store account? LOL Fucking lame. Capacitive touch screen though is a major plus. |
I love the full touch keyboard on the iphone, best keyboard I have ever used on a cell phone

T-Mobile didn't roll out there 3G network in 2007 or 2008... What makes you think they will have it in place now?
The only thing that could possibly help them is Google's influence. God speed! |

They said its rolling out with third-generation wireless in 21 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Miami. It says it runs on the slower wireless as well though. |
Wow, it's super ugly. The buttons look like the ones on those cheap universal remotes.

read the reviews first, that phone is lacking in so many features. unless you store all your stuff on google contacts etc... you're assed out. check gizmodo.com for a review

Looks like most phones on the US market...total crap. Why is it that the US mobiles/wireless are soooo very far behind everyone else for the most part? Anyone who's lived or spent any decent amount of time in the US and UK in recent years should know what I mean. They're cheaply made, heavy, lacking features and simply 2-3 years behind stuff much of the rest of the world is using.
