yes, thats right! :thumbsup

e-god 09-27-2008 06:12 AM

Nobody cares about PR? :)

For me this update was slow, more downs than ups heh

baX 09-27-2008 06:14 AM

Hope I'll do better then last time

- Jesus Christ - 09-27-2008 06:21 AM

To clarify...
PR is updated continually

Google is just releasing a new public snapshot of what PR is/was at a recent point in time.

(most should already know that, but I'm sure some don't and I feel like upping my postcount)

seeandsee 09-27-2008 06:23 AM

thanks, will check some of mine sites

Yes, but unfortunately most webmasters dump link trades after pr export as they see getting lower pr link, thats shitty

That's what sucks about trying to "buy" PR.

Here's an explanation for anyone who doesn't understand what we are talking about.

If I have a PR4 page with no outbound links on it ... and I sell off 50 links to a bunch of PR0 or unindexed pages.... by the time all those links are sold Its really not a PR4 anymore. The actual PR is now much lower, but will not be reflected in the API/Toolbar for a while.

Its one of the many shitty side effects of making PR public and only rarely updating the snapshot.

er... Why am I typing this crap on GFY... I should be starting a "BIG TITS [PIC]" thread. Disregard this post.

Burridge 09-27-2008 06:53 AM

so you say outbound links decreases (actual) PR?

that is a myth that too many people believe :2 cents:

a bunch of bad neigborhood outlinks might be a bad idea, but outbound linking within reason should never lower your own pr :2 cents:

and they don't, but they do pass linkjuice ...

Hello_Kitty 09-27-2008 01:32 PM

Oh yeah! This update is good for my sites. My sites have got pleasure. :) It's cool, babe, it's cool. :)

plyndrty 09-27-2008 02:00 PM

My PR went down on a few of my sites but thats GREAT.

It seems that google sends me less SE hits when I have a higher PR and more SE's when I'm ranked low. I get the PR thing but I just don't get it...

Every link passes pagerank(including inbound and outbound links) so if site has, lets say 10 pages linked from homepage and they link back to homepage without any other outbound links, the loss of pr is minimal, but if you link to other sites you loose pagerank. Page rank flows to all links that are on the page.
conclusion: if you your site is linked as a one from the hundred links on the page you are getting minimal pagerank flow.

It may be a little complicated to understand (sorry I'm drunk right now)

Anyway PR is not a top factor in the seo game.

does anyone actually still care about PR? PR has never had any positive/negative impact on my actual rankings

Same here. PR is meaningless. I have a PR0 site at #3 in google for a competitive phrase, and it has been there or thereabouts for 2 years.

PR won't be meaningless as long as a significant proportion of webmasters use it as one of the primary benchmarks for link trading... rightly or wrongly.

agreed

it is far from meaningless

try to sell a site that has bad PR, you will have alot of trouble getting as much money regardless of everything else

try to get the good advertisers in mainstream to approve your site if you have bad PR, not going to happen

etc.

PR is always updated, it just doesn't show up on the sites.

Manowar 09-27-2008 06:23 PM

So because inexperienced or just plain ignorant "webmasters" have accepted pagerank as their benchmark, I too have to chase pagerank? Lucky for me I don't sell advertising. I guess I could have good PR which would explain why I have no trouble getting link trades. Honestly I have no idea what my pagerank is on any of my sites. I don't care. I know it doesn't matter.

Klen 09-28-2008 11:08 AM

Already?Damn that was fast.

Miguel T 12-10-2008 08:37 AM

Mosts of my sites with low PR get more traffic than sites with high PR... So I really dont care on how much I score.

Traffic is GOLD.
