my highest earning site has a dash in the domain name
Was just thinking about how it is consistently my best revenue earner and it has a (-)dash in the domain, something some people always are prejudiced against :2 cents:
just thought I'd mention it to open up a few people's minds, when it comes to seo search engine traffic, a dash doesn't hurt at all (who knows for sure, it might even help some) |
its all about content.

It's all about keywords in the domain name... Good job!

But let me add, without hyphen in the domain it would have been earning a bit more. Agree or not, you are losing some of your visitors. |
keep up the good work

Yep, a high percentage of users will try to type yourdomain.com when returning. not your-domain.com. That is why a dash in the domain name is bad.

Reminds me of the very first domain I bought in 1998... had a hyphen and was a .net. lol, I don't know why I picked that when so many others were available. Anyways, from a branding standpoint, I think domains without a hyphen work so much better. Just looks more professional even. I own a few with hyphens though, it all depends on what you are planning to do with the domain. I wouldn't build a paysite with a hyphened domain.
