IllTestYourGirls 10-13-2008 08:31 AM

dead cat bounce?

cybermike 10-13-2008 08:38 AM

After 8 straight days of closing down the 9th is free? :P

Wolfy 10-13-2008 08:48 AM

+506.24!

I read a quote by Warren Buffet over he weekend - "Cash + Courage in a time of crisis is a priceless thing."

Or something like that. I liked it. :)

I really hope it is an upward trend that wont fall back down. But it could be a dead cat bounce.

inching up..

If it breaks 9k and closes that, it might help some people see some sun shine.

Wolfy 10-13-2008 10:11 AM

581.03, we just broke 9k!!!

I was telling people this over the weekend. I don't know that much about the stock market but don't be surprised if we have some record jumps this week. Everything is so far out of whack that I wouldn't be surprised if the market shoots back up to record territory in the next 6 weeks.

Just like oil. It doubled and halved in about 2 months even though nothing really happened to cause it. Everything that is happening is so unprecedented you can't really predict it anymore using the past.

I'm pissed at myself that I didn't buy more :(
you don't see +10% days often :(

Its only one day :) Still plenty of companies valued cheaply. Buy on any dips as 3-5 years out you will be sitting pretty.

I'm loving my rimm and pwe(22%+ yield :xmas-smil16 ) buys last week. I think I might hit double baggers on both of these inside one year.

What did you guys who are buying pick up?

Wolfy 10-14-2008 09:14 AM

I wish I had done this last week, but I don't think it's too late to get started.

I need to dump a grand or so into an account somewhere, and I want to manage my own money - where should I go?

Its not worth it unless youre talking at least $5k (bare minimum) but probably $10k. Charles Schwab is pretty good.

Wolfy 10-15-2008 08:49 AM

Charles Schwab allows you to manage your own trades? I thought they were a managed account service.

Wolfy 10-15-2008 08:50 AM

And as far as the amount and what is "worth it" - I plan on losing the first time, and I'm pretty sure I can lose a grand pretty effectively. ;)
