Tools to (batch) split FLV clips?

let's say i have 1:30 min. FLV clips and want them splitted (lossless) into 3 x 30 sec - also FLV. a batch function would be great

VideoCharge is a great program for many uses, but in my experience, it may have issues successfully splitting FLVs without re-compression. The first split will be valid, but the others may not play right. Try it and report back, please MaDalton.

same here, jim...

i have gone through their support, and i know that they read this board (because they contacted me), and we were never able to fix the issue.

good luck :thumbsup

videocharge is quality. Splitting flv is always a bitch though. You probably wont retain quality with batch processing...

have you looked at FLV knife its free I am not positive it does batch though

MaDalton 10-13-2008 10:40 AM

hmmm... doesnt sound very encouraging - will try later tonight and report back

As I mentioned before, Videocharge won't split Quicktime files without re-compression either and every time I post in the VC forum, they just keep asking me to send more samples of videos that won't split without them ever solving the issues. Frankly, I think the Quicktime issue is un-fixable without Apple's intervention since I don't think that third party app developers can access Quicktime tools or source code, but maybe the Flash is.

I have Boilsoft. I don't even think it splits FLV files. I'm looking for something to split FLV as well. In batches would be awesome!

i tried videocharge and it doesn't help much. it crashes, it doesn't read some flv files and it does not put out flv either, only mp4

and it takes ages because it's re-encoding everything

gotta look for something else

Strange. I use videocharge to split files and it has a function to split without recompression.

It has the function, but the function doesn't actually work to split Quicktime nor Flash. It just works with the other video formats like WMV, MPEG, and AVI. Try it for yourself.

what about getting the video you want into mpeg, and loading that into sorenson. Then pic the segments you wanted split and let it render to flv?
