My VAIO laptop died. Recommendations for under $2K, it's for my wife mainly

for PCs i like toshiba laptops. but i really love my macbooks.

It's the Pavilion 6500 or something. The white limited edition one. It's about 1 year old, and still no issues with it. You can probably find nicer ones now, but so far, all the HPs I've owned are good.

probably 8 out of 10 males i know use apple products. i think they're more ultra hip than feminine. whether or not hip is good is up for debate obviously. i always think that people who are carrying around dells and whatnot look like they walked out of the 90s. to each their own.

macbook or macbook pro, wait and see what the announcement later today is though.

Go for Toshiba very good laptops.. (a little expensive for what you get but damn good quality)

Otherwise if quality is less of an issue and you just want to get the most for your buck go for Acer..

I would buy another Sony VAIO. I have had one for a couple of years and no problem.


I switched to a macbook though as I don't want vista that comes with most new computers... Have vista on an office machine and had to install XP on it due to so many issues with vista... Sorry I digress.

Another Vaio.. i don't know how the last one lasted.. mine is 2 years old now and still works perfect!

The new MacBook Pro is $1999, MacBook Pro Mini is cheaper than that. Apple just launched them.
