Want a virtual account where I can...

Setup my own domains quickly without needing to email the host.
Just want a virtual to start off with.

Thanks

protgp / sunwave will let you do that

evildick 10-17-2008 01:39 PM

with phatservers you can do that through directadmin

Take a look at our VSYS Virtual Plan. Comes with FREE Webair Control Panel where you can add your domains easily.

I have a machine there and it never works. I have to email them to set it up properly and I know it bugs them and it bugs me too

Jayvis 10-17-2008 01:44 PM

See sig, you can do it in the control panel without waiting. :)

I have been working with a friend who has a managed server there and the phatservers tech support has to be some of the least flexible and obliging that I've found - to the point that I'm glad it's not me paying for this particular server!

Really? I was with Phatservers for 8 months without any problems at all.. Moose and Sly were nothing but helpful to me.

They wouldn't even give me ssh access unless I told them exactly what IPs I would be logging in from - pretty difficult when you're using ADSL with dynamically assigned IPs. And they wouldn't change the ssh port to 443 so I could get around the port 22 blocking on the hotel connection I was using. I ended up getting another cheap self managed server from cyberwurx in the end because there were too many hurdles to getting the job done. I would stress that it wasn't my name on the account, but I was working on a joint project, obviously with the full sanction of the server's owner, and tech support knew that; your mileage may vary.

With Naked Hosting (see sig) you can add all the domains you want through CPanel. Only takes a moment.

We provide Direct Admin which provides you the ability to do what you seek.

Brad, when is the last time you have added a domain? I have not heard about this problem and we have hundreds and hundreds of new domains added to our network on a monthly basis without a hitch. If there is a problem I will find it and get it fixed for you!

email me at [email protected] if you do not want to reply here.

directfiesta 10-17-2008 02:33 PM

standard on all our virtuals ... just use Cpanel to add domains ( unlimited ). It is all automated, just like our signup process :thumbsup

Zach reloaded my zone files and is working with me on it, he fixed half the domains I added but a few still are showing apache default pages

Ah, I guess everybody has their own experiences, mine was pleasant, yours weren't. Good to see what others have to say though.

Not to long ago I went to WebAir to setup a manager dedicated server for my own personal adult sites and let me tell you, they bend over backwards to help you out. I can't even believe how helpful they were. I even tried the dumb blonde card just to see if I could trick them into telling me something wrong just to close the deal and they didn't go for he. The guy went out of his way to make sure I understood every single word he was saying. LOL I seriously couldn't have been more impressed.

Maybe your friend should check them out.

I seriously hate referring anyone to a company because it always ends up bad but honestly this time I don't hesitate simply because I have had nothing but great experiences from them.

yep i've run several reasonably large SE operations through webair over the years and they've been excellent, even stumping up several hundred ips at a time on short notice. my only complaint is that they put hurdles in the sign up process (eg. having to fax in a bunch of crap) but after that they're great.
