Sorry, Dad, I'm Voting for Obama!

Let me be the latest conservative/libertarian/whatever to leap onto the Barack Obama bandwagon. It?s a good thing my dear old mum and pup are no longer alive. They?d cut off my allowance.

Or would they? But let?s get that part out of the way. The only reason my vote would be of any interest to anyone is that my last name happens to be Buckley?a name I inherited. So in the event anyone notices or cares, the headline will be: ?William F. Buckley?s Son Says He Is Pro-Obama.? I know, I know: It lacks the throw-weight of ?Ron Reagan Jr. to Address Democratic Convention,? but it?ll have to do.

should we hand over the largest economy in the world to a man with one year experience as a senator?

he's been a senetor for 2 years and campaigning for one of them.

It seems that mc cain won when they chose obama over hillary.. because she would have beat mc cain

I would like to see McCain for 4 years, Hillary for 8 (w/ Obama as VP) and then Obama for 8 years.

I don't like McCain, but he has more experience than a 2 year senator. Maybe, just maybe he learned from some of Bushes mistakes? I don't know. But, Obama is not qualified to take over the world's largest economy. that is just an honest observation.

The problem we have had is not with our President Bush --the problem is with our Congress.

Expect it to get worse before it gets better.

Yes, Bush has been a beacon of light and everything that is right with this country. :1orglaugh:upsidedow

Bush and Republican congress - 6 years = 1 veto
Bust and Democrat congress - 2 years = 11 vetoes
Wonder what will happen with a Democrat congress and president.

Repubs always want to say the dems in congress fucked everything up but they only had congress for less than two years, and the actual time they spend in washington is much less than that. Give me a break.

Oh that's right! You should rather hand it over to a senator who's been there for 29 years and voted with Bush 90% of the time.... now THAT makes perfect sense. Hey one thing is, you'll at least know your going to be bum rushed, so that is one advantage. :warning:warning:warning

Yes. I would rather hand it over to someone with 29 years experience vs. 2 years.

If you read my original post, I think Obama should be president after he gains more experience in the senate and congress. he has some good ideas.

And given that McCain has all this experience, you still trust his decision making even after he selected Palin for VP?

The mortgage mess was caused by the Clinton administration. Most of the problems we are having now have been caused by the rise in gas prices. When you suck away to much money out of peoples pockets they have less to spend on other things.

How were loans made in this decade caused by the Clinton administration?

McCain is the only person to blame for the circus and mockery of the political process that this election has become.

It shocks me how people can think that experience is always better than no experience. We need honest, uncorrupt, fair politicans. The job of president of the united states is primarly to make decisions (not to execute those decisions). The people who execute the decisions will hopefully have skill and experience in doing their jobs well.

The worst president would be a very experienced, very intelligent, very skilled but evil person because he would be most capable of successfully accomplishing his evil acts. If there were only two choices: Satan or six-pack Joe, would you choose Satan because he is much older and experienced and skilled and knowledgeable than uneducated, younger, unskilled, stupid six-pack Joe? With joe as president, perhaps nothing will be accomplished (or he will be overthrown). With Satan as president, he will accomplish much.

this is only an example to show that experience in a bad politican is worse than inexperience in a good politican.

Look up the saving and loan scandals of the 80's, and around 82 and you will see McCain and Reagan name all over todays problems.

Not Clinton, he was just another yuppie that COULD have stopped it but didn't.

~Ray 10-19-2008 06:16 AM

I think of it like this...

McCain helped execute the Bush game plan.

after their defeat, McCain notices flaws and tries to fix them to win the next game.

so, McCain supported Bush's game plan because Bush was voted in to position of coach... and the players don't question the coach, they just execute the game plan, and learn from any mistakes they have made and or noticed others making.

I think McCain will be a better president than Bush. I think Hillary would be a better president than McCain.. and lastly, I think after Obama gains more political experience, he will be an even better president than Hillary.

it's not time for joe six pack right now.. we need a better, more smooth running country before we elect a feel good president like joe six pack.

* at least I'm not racist or sexist :2 cents:
