Paysite owners, have you noticed an increase in idiot emails?
Lately I have had a huge increase in idiots telling me that they lost their username and password. Of course after about 2 minutes of checking it's obvious that they never had one to begin with? Does this scam actually work with some paysites?
|
No I don't think it does. I worked member support for Naughty America for 6 years before they went in house and I got lots of emails like this. They required info from the 'member' to prove they are actually one before giving out a username or password.

What may have happened is the surfer tried to join your site but was hijacked after filling your join form to that of the hijackers. Making it seem to surfer as if he joined your site. Do a search for a thread here not to long ago.
here it is gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=858907 |
I got a mail from a guy asking for his lost user data. I told him I couldn't find him in my database. After this he signed up :)
|
Got one working me right now as we speak. Fucking idiots.
|
I get about 150 a week have done since 2000.
They are never able to supply the info we ask for so they dont get a password. Beats me why these fools keep trying ? I guess someone somewhere gives out passwords without checking :error |
yup i get those all the time haha.. i do a email and last name search of the ccbill member base and if they aren't there i tell them to contact ccbill cause i couldn't find them in our db..
I've had some real winners when it comes to emails over the years.. one guy insisted that i let them see the members area before he joins and he promised he would join.. I sent him a review site of my site and never heard from him again. The thing is the guy told me over and over that he has been let into many many sites before to check them out before joining :1orglaugh |

Yeah, I have received them. Not on volume, but they come in spurts.
A lot of times, the e-mails will not match. So even if they have enough info to show they are a member... like exact name to match membership, how they signed up (which processor) but sent from a different e-mail. If it sounds legit from their e-mail, a lot of times I will refer them to CCB, or Verotel lost password pages. Sometimes I will resent their password, but, to the e-mail listed on the sign up. Not to the one they e-mail me from. They have to provide enough info for me to believe it's them. But I will never reply with username, and password, to their original e-mail. I guess it's a case by case basis for me. Based on their e-mail, and my mood. I DO get a few here and there where they signed up for one site, but claim they lost password to some other site I have. But I check that and then tell em, sorry toots. Wrong site. :1orglaugh |
They're just looking to get free content to upload to teh tubes

Been getting those since we started, they think they are slick.
|
Ok, I guess I should clarify, yes, obviously you get them from day one, but for the past 2 weeks or so there has been a huge increase in them.

Yep, and they are getting worse.
Just had a guy demand a free membership so he could see if his wife was on our page. Told him if it was not worth 20 bucks to him he best just move on. |
Haven't seen any increase in those recently.
