BROvention: Car Rental Question

While I do not rent a car at all the BROventions. There are some cities I like to go in early, or stay later, so that I can enjoy the city before heading home. Most vacations I fly into I need a rental. I like to explore a day at minimum. Just get lost and check things out.

For example, I did not get a car in Atlanta, and it would have been a hassle and a waste. Especially considering the airport to the hotel part of it. Internext, could have done without a car, but I did get out some.

Anyways... enjoy rambling. Who here does enough traveling, and can tell me about rental discounts. When I go to L.A., among other places I like to have a car, it seems like it is always $400-500 for a rental. Even with a discount.

There must be a program, frequent driver, rental, or something out there.

Fire away with your 'tips'.

don't rent from the airport.

usually in the city you get a better deal. (depending on time of year and events)

While in LA use www.enterprise.com

Word - Enterprise is the way to go, 50% off on the weekend, comes out to 19.95 a day for a full size car.

Use your Amex to rent, and decline the insurance. Amex covers what your regular policy doesn't .You will still have to pay your deductible if you get in an accident though.

I rent from them for weekend Vegas trips, to save the wear and tear on my car. Last time the total was under $50.

Oh yea, they will pick you up too!

hope this helps:thumbsup

you can get memberships to most rental car companies like Alamo, Hertz and Avis. Gold club or whatnot.

If it's actually a Brovention the car and driver will be furnished.

AAA card is very helpful to have. My mom got me one for my first Christmas with a drivers' license and it was a fabulous idea.

enterprise has been good to me but like someone else mentioned, much cheaper if you don't get one at the airport, they up the prices for "convenience"

directfiesta 10-19-2008 08:01 AM

At conventions, BROs don't rent cars ... They actually buy a brand new one and discard it at the end of the convention...

That is the topnotch standup bro code !

Half the shows we went to this year we stayed an extra 4-8 days or whatever... So yeah, needed a car :winkwink:

So far we've gotten the best rates from carrentals.com and from southwest.com. Just a matter of playing with the dates and pickup locations, usually we get rates like $150 for a week.
