Why is GMAIL so fucking useless with Spam?

The only place I've ever given away my gmail address is in here.

Since doing that, once, I get 100-200 spams a day. I clear all spam messages, it says "clear all spam messages now" - hooray etc, and then the same fuckers spam me the next day. Same titles, same message body etc.

Are Google so fucking stupid that they don't realise the exact same headers / senders etc that spammed me the day before aren't exactly the same? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's flagged these messages as spam.

Answer of course is NO.

Why would 1000 egghead PHd guys deliberately ALLOW all this to go on?

THINK.

ps. I never use that account for anything other than seeing how much google suck shit.

pps, alcohol supplies dwindling, hitting the pub.

The spam filter on my gmail works great. I maybe get 1-2 spams a week that make it through the filter.

Mr Pheer 10-21-2008 02:24 AM

hardly any spam gets thru my filter. The stuff that does, i click 'mark as spam' and i rarely see the same type of message again

cardinalvices 10-21-2008 02:24 AM

The spam filter on our Gmail box works perfect. You just need to educate it a little and it will work fine.

munki 10-21-2008 02:29 AM

I've been spam for for the first time since I started using email, with my gmail account... Did you break it somehow? lol

Pleasurepays 10-21-2008 02:30 AM

haha.. what a bunch of bullshit. i use domains on gmail BECAUSE i get almost no spam and their spam filters work great

JamesK 10-21-2008 02:47 AM

You get spam in your inbox? It always lands in the spam directory here. I'm actually very happy with googles spamfilter.

Manowar 10-21-2008 03:15 AM

the spamfilter works really well for me

Corleone 10-21-2008 03:26 AM

never had problems with gmail spam filzter.. works fine here

Miguel T 10-21-2008 03:36 AM

GMail's Spam feature works like a charm here...

VicD 10-21-2008 03:42 AM

Pay for a spamfilter next time, try spamarrest, don't complain about free services...

digifan 10-21-2008 03:43 AM

Gmail has by far the best spam filters.

dav3 10-21-2008 04:02 AM

wurx4me.

After Shock Media 10-21-2008 04:08 AM

My email is in every single one of my posts.
I get maybe 1-2 spams a day (if that) that make it through and they really seem to be carpet spams from elsewhere.

It works damn near perfectly. One just needs to know how to use the super complicated method of selecting spam type messages in your inbox and clicking the spam button. That way it can learn your own preferences. More advanced users will also report phishing and such.

seeandsee 10-21-2008 04:19 AM

i get 1-2 spam true filter a month, works great

adonthenet 10-21-2008 04:22 AM

I got shitloads too, but 90% of them going to the spam folder... so its just fine =)

adonthenet 10-21-2008 04:23 AM

Spam(847) - this is from like 2 days lol

selena 10-21-2008 06:06 AM

I love gmail, and have most of my email accounts running through it.

It gives me great spam protection.

tranza 10-21-2008 06:43 AM

The filter works nice for me!!

[ScreaM] 10-21-2008 06:56 AM

Are you kidding me? Gmail has the best spam filter ever.

DWB 10-21-2008 07:02 AM

GMAIL blocks my spam every time perfectly.

Iron Fist 10-21-2008 07:12 AM

Nice trolling thread.... GMAIL has the best spam blocking filters around and they know it.

ScottXXX 10-21-2008 07:13 AM

goes in spurts for me... every month or so I'll get a few hundred spam messages a day that don't get flagged. This lasts for a few days then google filter starts catching them again.

Rochard 10-21-2008 07:25 AM

Gmail spam filters work great. I rarely get spam.

RenegadeCash Mark 10-21-2008 07:26 AM

Gmail rocks...

Lonely immortal 10-21-2008 07:54 AM

I can't remember the last time I found spam in my Gmail?

Probably need to give it out first huh?

Paparazzi 10-21-2008 08:31 AM

I love the gmail spam filter

Dame 10-21-2008 08:33 AM

Gmail works great. Have even switched over some of my regualr email accounts over to it now.

How can this be a trolling thread? Yet again you've proved yourself to be an imbercile.

Yes, I use spamarrest on decent accounts.

I haven't used their filter, just thought that once you had flagged messages as spam, their system should have the intelligence to match headers / senders / body content to block the same fooking messages. Hopeless.

Agreed :thumbsup

woj 10-21-2008 02:53 PM

they probably have the best spam filters, no idea what you are talking about...

cykoe6 10-21-2008 03:14 PM

This thread is weird because Gmail's spam filters are the whole reason I use it. They are the best I have seen. Almost no spam gets through and most of my legitimate mail does get through.

brand0n 10-21-2008 03:15 PM

i hit inbox on gmail

=]

x2 works great for me :error

CunningStunt 10-21-2008 03:23 PM

You are all missing the point.

I am not talking about setting up filters.

It gets the spam, but why does it even bother keeping the same messages day in day out? Just identify what is spam, and don't even show it anymore. They must be able to pick up on their network all the penis enlargement / forex / replica rolex bullshit which has been flooded on there.

toriander 10-27-2008 03:15 AM

i didnt set up my filters too
