Brits start to stand up against ridiculous new porn law

the recent introduction of plans to make owning extreme porn illegal, with no clear definition of what is extreme, has started to get people to the streets

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7682709.stm

About time :thumbsup
Without any clear ruling as to what defines "extremem porn", this is tantamount to invasion of privacy.

The government here is a joke. They probably think this will win them votes or something.

It's not like this place has any bigger issues to deal with huh ?? :disgust

Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: dont give up the fight!

Preacherman, dont tell me,
Heaven is under the earth.
I know you dont know
What life is really worth.
Its not all that glitters is gold;
alf the story has never been told:
So now you see the light, eh!
Stand up for your rights. come on!

Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: dont give up the fight!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: dont give up the fight!

Most people think,
Great God will come from the skies,
Take away everything
And make everybody feel high.
But if you know what life is worth,
You will look for yours on earth:
And now you see the light,
You stand up for your rights. jah!

Get up, stand up! (jah, jah!)
Stand up for your rights! (oh-hoo!)
Get up, stand up! (get up, stand up!)
Dont give up the fight! (life is your right!)
Get up, stand up! (so we cant give up the fight!)
Stand up for your rights! (lord, lord!)
Get up, stand up! (keep on struggling on!)
Dont give up the fight! (yeah!)

We sick an tired of-a your ism-skism game -
Dyin n goin to heaven in-a jesus name, lord.
We know when we understand:
Almighty God is a living man.
You can fool some people sometimes,
But you cant fool all the people all the time.
So now we see the light (what you gonna do? ),
We gonna stand up for our rights! (yeah, yeah, yeah!)

So you better:
Get up, stand up! (in the morning! git it up!)
Stand up for your rights! (stand up for our rights!)
Get up, stand up!
Dont give up the fight! (dont give it up, dont give it up!)
Get up, stand up! (get up, stand up!)
Stand up for your rights! (get up, stand up!)
Get up, stand up! ( ... )
Dont give up the fight! (get up, stand up!)
Get up, stand up! ( ... )
Stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up!

Yeah, seriously - I get Sky/BBC but see events from across the channel and am absolutely amazed at the level of control the government is continuing to enforce on the people. However, I don't see anything that suggests the people are not willing to accept it. What was the recent idea to float? Logging and storing all cellular communication or something.

:shudder:

Then again, Sarko is just as bad. What with his database on politically active people, those that cause 'problems' etc right down to the age of 14. And the first wave of police security cameras went live today in Paris.

Just a matter of time...

Just another benefit of being a subject of the Queen, versus a citizen :(

Huh? What has that got to do with the price of eggs?

marcjacob 10-21-2008 10:23 AM

Im not sure it is a rediculous new law. Badly written but I agree with its aims. It was passed after someone who reguarly viewed extreme porn went onto kill. It bans things like violence, sex with the dead etc etc.

Again I agree its a very poorly worded piece of legislation and Id like to see it amended so its clearer, but I wouldnt want it repealed.

Just like those vague obscenity laws that exist in a lot of countries.

Which case is this? I wasn't aware of that - however a current trial that comes to mind is the one that toes the line between art and obscenity:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/10...n_girls_aloud/

Quote:

The legal world is buzzing at the announcement last week of the prosecution of 35-year-old civil servant Darryn Walker for the online publication of material that Police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) believe to be obscene.

This is the first such prosecution for written material in nearly two decades – and a guilty verdict could have a serious and significant impact on the future regulation of the internet in the UK.

The case originated in summer 2007, when Mr Walker allegedly posted a work of fantasy – titled Girls (Scream) Aloud - about pop group Girls Aloud.

The story describes in detail the kidnap, rape, mutilation and murder of band members Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, and ends with the sale of various body parts on eBay.

That is the problem - lack of definition. As it is,

The bill legislation (s.63 - s.66) would make it a crime to possess material that was pornographic and realistically depicted various acts, including extreme violence, bestiality and necrophilia.

Now, if you don't drop the words " including extreme violence, bestiality and necrophilia." which are simply guidelines, then we get into a whole messy murky area. Deep throating till the girl pukes? DP? S&M?

Do these laws make it a criminal, jail-serving punishable act to have them stored on your own hard disk for your own, personal viewing pleasure? I'm not talking about CP or anything here, don't get me wrong, but who the fuck is to tell me whether I can or cannot get off on watching some DP, gagging, wax burning bondage scene?

---edit
more so, if it's between me and my wife and filmed for our personal viewing pleasure. We'd both be criminals.

tony286 10-21-2008 10:49 AM

6 people including a photographer isnt standing up. The problem is the regular person porn viewer will never stand up for porn.

pornguy 10-21-2008 10:51 AM

Fucking amazing. Sounds like them and the US have someone in common.

Sid70 10-21-2008 11:04 AM

UK's becoming as overregulated as UKraine :)

ultimatebbwdotcom 10-21-2008 11:36 AM

The UK has some of the most hypocritical politicians. If theres one thing for sure, the guy who gets caught at 4.00am in a public toilet, masterbating while wearing a trash bag, with an orange up his ass, will likely be a politician.

In the light of day though they'll be all prim and proper trying to pass shit like this.

AtlantisCash 10-21-2008 11:53 AM
