Yahoo slashes 10% of workforce

Yahoo keeps slipping with the economic downturn and has plans to cut another 1500 jobs. Apparently they keep pursuing a deal with google and that is still in negotiations.

May be bad deal for those sites SEO savy in yahoo yet week in google :(

"Meanwhile, Google announced last week that its profits jumped a better-than-expected 26% in the third quarter. Google has continued to report strong growth despite the economic downturn thanks to its dominance in search advertising."

at the end of the day the web will have

one book store
one search engine
one bidding site
one pornsite with 5000 prechecks crosssells
one social networking site
one free email site
one large news site

question is who will be the last man standing

and yes companies spend money on online ads if they not spending it in overture msn yahoo dogpile ask findwhat knoodle etc etc they spending it on google

Kudles 10-21-2008 04:56 PM

Geez that sucks

Khulan 10-21-2008 04:58 PM

Economy of America just sucks. It affects everything

mynameisjim 10-21-2008 05:11 PM

They should of merged with Microsoft.

Yahoo has more traffic then Google, they just can't make money off it. Say what you will about Microsoft, but they know how to make money.

Google announcing "strong" growth despite the economy due to search advertising... hmmm

Makes me wonder if were not so much in the wrong market despite a potential democratic party in office

Yahoo screw their advertisers.
The only good thing with a Yahoo and Google merger is that yahoo will start to give good results.
