Don't you ever get tired of politics?

Seriously?

It's like watching Days of Our Lives...

Mutt 10-21-2008 05:23 PM

it's much much worse in the Internet age - Internet was made for people to fling shit at each other and politics is as good as excuse as any to fling poo. the postitive is that i don't think there's ever been this many people going into an election who actually know something about the candidates, even the VP candidates. whether all this interest will translate into record voter turnout - not likely, people on the Net are usually all talk and no walk.

Fletch XXX 10-21-2008 05:27 PM

actually no.

I was just about to make a blog entry about it LOL

all i read about is politics, I do not watch sports at all. I have not watched television programs in over 2 years, and if I am not reading national news, I am reading local political news. constantly. some people watch football, baseball, boxing, i dont watch any of it. politics is my game.

politics effects us all, its our duty to pay attention

Okay... a good example, your opinion of Sarah Palin is not going to change tomorrow, Friday, or next Monday... right? I would say that it is a fair assumption.

So why would you constantly read about her? Picking apart every little thing she does when you already know you don't like her? What are you really gaining out of this? It's gossip. You have your opinion, but you want more dirt, you want more gossip.

That is sort of my point. Following stories and situations is one thing... posting day after day with new dirty details about somebody that you already know you don't like... what's the point?

(By the way, not intended specifically at you, I have no idea what you do or don't follow or who you do or don't like.)

well to be fair, i was standing in a store the other day and there was a sports show on, the few minutes i was forced to listen to was not about the game at all, but was about the "drugs the team members were busted with."

the "dirt" is what people look for, are entertained by, and crave.

celebrity gossipp makes more money than brtney spears does. there are more shows dedicated to making fun of celebs than praising them. i cant name a britney spears song or cd, but i know she was just let off her hit and run case in LA LOL

need i continue?

im writing my entry right now ;)

notoldschool 10-21-2008 05:37 PM

Im hoping I can take a nice break after Nov 4th. Lets hope its not bad news.

adonthenet 10-21-2008 05:38 PM

I can't take it anymore, I think I'm going to become one myself :p
NOT!

ExLust 10-21-2008 08:55 PM

No, even it is same old shit but different day. It is already part of every country.

uno 10-21-2008 09:07 PM

I never get tired of it.

The Duck 10-21-2008 09:08 PM

No, not really. Just dont watch the politics on TV, it's meant to be exhausting and boring.

Rochard 10-21-2008 09:31 PM

I find it highly amusing really... both sides picking on both sides, people in the Interweb trying stir up shirt. Very much amusing.

Personally I am not into either .

cardinalvices 10-22-2008 02:22 AM

Don't worry, it will be over soon. They will forget about you right after the election.

bausch 10-22-2008 03:34 AM

I was never interested to begin with.

Sarah_Jayne 10-22-2008 04:12 AM

Politics is my sport of choice. So, it takes a lot for me to get tired of it but it is time for this innings to be over, I agree.

cherrylula 10-22-2008 04:46 AM

I absolutely love politics.

Because politicians are this weird mix of like a business person and sort of an actor. They use the system of government and have to be really smooth like Obama to convince us why we should vote for them.

And the thing is, they use the system to benefit their own interests. Regardless of what Obama is promising the USA, he is trying to become President to better his life and interests #1.

And of course, people break the rules within politics like anything else in life. But not every single one of them all the time. I'm not looking the other way from dirty politics.

But they use the system to their advantage, "public service," yeah right. They play with other people's money all day long. And the USA has lots of it.

Sarah_Jayne 10-22-2008 05:01 AM

Plus, there is a narrative to everything that can be interesting to follow. If Obama gets in he will be swept in on the arms of history and expectation only to eventually be hated by the majority of people that voted him in. The same thing will happen to just about anybody because people love the figures until they are actually in control of their pockets. It is watching the downfalls the will come to every leader that gets interesting.

Take the UK at the moment, watching who gets the daggers planted deepest into Brown's back is a bit like a soap opera but better than those on tv to folks like me. Peter Mandelson is a character that could have been written by Dickens with the way he can't be sunk and comes back from the political dead time and time again to haunt the government.

tranza 10-22-2008 10:37 AM

Yes, I do everyday!!

BradM 10-22-2008 10:51 AM

I'm beyond exhausted with it. I can't have a point or a debate or a conversation about politics for another 10 years.

50% of people believe one thing, and the other 50% disagree wholeheartedly. Humans beings just love drama and politics fit right into that.

germ 10-22-2008 12:19 PM

Its too important to get tired of.

Its the responsibility of all good citizens to be informed in regards to who is running your city, state, and federal governments.

CherryV 10-22-2008 12:48 PM

I watch alot of CNN and the British version of CNN and I watch Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Jay Leno and Conan.

During the day I get to see the news stories that will be made fun of later in the night by the other three shows. It keeps me informed and entertained. I have a keen interest in US politics and the world view of it esp in the times of the economic crisis. And I should note that I am not even American!

pornguy 10-22-2008 01:09 PM

It will be for about another month. We are going though the build up and then the POST election stuff. Then a few weeks off. and then they swear in the new guy and we have another few weeks.

Poindexterity 10-22-2008 01:50 PM

i live in a country where i can be
phone tapped and arrested with no warrant.
i can be held indefinitely at an undisclosed location
with no lawyer, no trial, no rights, and no charges
ever being filed against me.

how in the fuck could i possibly not care about politics?

I totally agree with you. I don't need to watch it day in and day out...
