Chargeback ratio?

Does anyone here have solid info on what chargeback ratios are? 1/100? 1/1000? 1/50?

Can anyone say there are pattens in a chargeback? Do most happen within the first 3 days? Do members that have been with you for 8 months ever do a chargeback (rather than just cancel their membership)?

If someone is paying, and never visiting the site, do you stop accepting their money to make sure you don't get chargebacks?

I don't mean canceled memberships, cancels are normal. I mean when the person is pissed and they want their money back.

Under 1 and 100, at 1:100 it would be 1% and you would be in trouble. If you are doing volume, .7-.8 is fine. If you are doing 50-100 sales a day, .5-.7 is fine.

Anything below that, swing for joy.

If you got a CB today, it happened months ago. I guess it may happen faster but if look the CB up, the sale is normally 3+ months or older.

Yes, your most of your legit CB's that weren't fraud, never logged into the members area. Maybe they didn't get the welcome email, data didn't post fast enough, whatever the reason.

Some people to help lower CB's if they do volume, will cancel or email members, that never log into the members area.

If a person is pissed and threatens to CB, and they used the service. Before you refund them, be sure to tell them that the Billing Company AND Bank, will no longer allow them to buy online, then ask them to confirm they want the refund.

Many won't respond.. some will, so refund them and make sure the processor bans them.

Very useful information. Thanks.

So at .7-.8 CB's, if you make 125 sales per day, you also get one CB per day?

Not always.. but yeah.. oh and you aren't really in danger until you break 100 cb's a month, maybe it's a rolling period.. I think it's monthly.

So if you average 1-2 a day, that's 30-60 a month, and even at .8 or .9 CB, I think you are still rather safe.. Now if you hit and hold... say 1 or 1.2, I'm sure even if you are under 100 Epoch and CCBill are going to put you back in check.

Rules for MC & Visa are different, also rules on visa & MasterCard international are different than domestic (usa)... Ask your gateway or merchant bank and they will tell you #....

Aye, I said epoch/ccbill, he didn't sound very Euro to me with a SD location :) MC and VISA are close enough you can group them together, for sure if you aren't hitting any gross limits. For International, add .5 to your limits.
