I took this tonight in the Mid-Atlantic region.

All recently laid off sales reps, feel free to ICQ me for the location of that Exxon.

Post photo's of your gas prices tonight & tomorrow, we'll keep this thread going! :pimp

Supz 10-23-2008 09:29 PM

ahahah, that is funny

gas prices had to go down, or else no one can afford it.

They will make more money with the lower prices because they will pump that much more I would think

I dont think the volume would go up. They will just make a little less profit.

rhon23 10-23-2008 09:30 PM

2.25! Why is gas a dollar or more here. Ah the price i pay for living in Hollywood

mynameisjim 10-23-2008 09:34 PM

Not unless they started building rigs in the Mid-Atlantic region of the east coast.

junction 10-23-2008 10:42 PM

$2.16 here in the mid west.

DAMNMAN 10-24-2008 12:51 AM

2.75 in West Palm Beach.

BTW, the prices are comming down because the big gas boys want you to vote republican. They are taking your mind off the fact they've been cornholin' US for the last 8 years.

V_RocKs 10-24-2008 01:54 AM

$3.79 in California...

I don't use ARCO and I don't use 87 so I am sure someone could quote something like $3.49.

Nah, it's just that demand is way down. Recessions take a big blow on energy consumption.

kesha1 10-24-2008 02:13 AM

Still way over $3 in L.A.

fuzzylogic 10-24-2008 02:46 AM

FILL UP NOW!
it will be a little more next week.

Corleone 10-24-2008 03:19 AM

OPEC said last week that they will cut down on production so the price will go up again. Saudi Arabia says NO because it will hurt their investments in Europe and America, but the rest of OPEC want the price for oil back up to the "normal" level (I think it is around 140 dollars they are aiming for).

If anyone is hurting the economy it's OPEC.

WinstonTriplexcash 10-24-2008 03:46 AM

yep, got your proof right there

the reason gas prices are always going to be higher in cali than elsewhere is cali has strict emission regulatons and refines their own fuel. it costs more to do it that way.

not only that, California has one of the highest, if not the highest tax per gallon. Here in New orleans, the gas tax per gallon is .30ish cents. cali has a .70 cents tax per gallon tax, maybe more now. Cali adds almost a dollar per gallon just in its own state tax.

When do I pick you up from the airport? :)

MrAwesome 10-24-2008 05:08 AM

get it while you can, the more the value goes down, the more production slows, the higher the price

Klen 10-24-2008 05:24 AM

Here in Croatia prices are still same. They didnt have problem with raising prices during high prices of oil barrell, but now when is 50% less prices are same.

Zebra 10-24-2008 05:29 AM

$2.04 at the 7-11 near my house. Expecting $1.99 over the weekend. Filled up for $30 yesterday, that hasn't happened in many years.

completely missed that... their lowest octane is exact to some stations highest 'premium' in the US. it's usually 87 - 89 - 91or93

PostWhore 10-24-2008 12:22 PM

the only reason prices went down is because demand went down...

gornyhuy 10-24-2008 12:35 PM

$2.89 here, which feels like such a bargain even though its still double what I feel the 'real' price should be.

prices went down as speculators in oil futures started to bail out. that was why the price was so high to begin with.

gas prices vary from region to region, city to city and even block by block because gas is just like any other product... supply and demand dictate price.

woj 10-24-2008 01:04 PM

"Crude prices have now fallen 56 percent from the highs reached in July, and more than $41 per barrel in just the last month."

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/081024/oil_prices.html

I'm glad I didn't buy into that "it's going to go to $200/barrel" bs, would have been real fucked now...

I did that when I went up to Vancouver the other week. They were giving free upgrades so we took it. The cost of gas was so low, it only cost $100 to drive from seattle to vancouver island and back. Good deal and far more comfortable IMHO.

RRRED 10-24-2008 01:13 PM

Someone else told me the other day that there are alot of laid off reps now... Has this been an issue? I've been gone far too long... What happened?

The difference in the price of gas in different cities around the US is mostly due to varying amounts of local taxes... :2 cents:

Nice.. you drove right past the place I'm staying... I'm about one minute from that crazy shooting spree last month.

Cyandin 10-24-2008 01:28 PM

IM STILL paying 2.85 as I have been all along.

Zebra 10-24-2008 02:17 PM

Just saw $1.99 at two gas stations in a row!
Nice to see gas that cheap, but if it goes much lower that really can't be good for the economy. Hopefully they both stabilize soon.

taxes vary and play some role in prices but the price of gas varies significantly within a city depending on the area of the city. that has nothing to do with taxes.

the prices we see right now are varying by well over a dollar per gallon right now across the US as prices adjust from the supply to wholesale to retail level. that huge difference has nothing to do with "taxes" either.
