Wholesale DVD prices?
 

Hi pplz,
some online distributors (or the end sellers) want to buy our DVD's, and ask us about the wholesale prices, but we are not sure what is the going price today.
We shoot, edit and replicate them our selves (well, replication is in Santa Ana).
We used to sell some of them to Canada for $8 each, but I think the prices got a little lower since then.
Please suggest.

Prices are different from company to company. They are going to pay what they think your DVD is worth.

I try to start $5 higher than what I want to leave room to negotiate.

Yes the prices have gone down, especially with the recession everyone in the industry is faceing....

We'd be happy to GET $5... :)
We sell them online for (I think) $20-25 each (including s/h), and naturally we want to get as much as possible for the wholesale, too. So, you think if we ask $8 for between 50-100, and $7 for up to 200, $6 up to 500, and $5 up to 1000 might be reasonable?
Besides, they will pay in Euros, so, for them the numbers will be even lower ;)

Be happy if you can get $5 - $7 per unit for a new release unless you are sitting on something special. The older it gets the cheaper it will probably have to sell for.

I don't know what kind of content it is but unless it's special, the DVD game doesn't pay a whole lot these days. Though Gay will bring you more in the event that is what you have.

Also the fact that you are dealing with it yourself is probably going to lower the cost. You have to real leverage or power like some of the large companies have who can get a little more for their product.

The content is str8, it is just sex in public places. So, what do you think I can ask the guy per unit? He faxed me a few days ago, and I was too busy to reply.

On 200 deep, I get from B studios ( CDI, Raw Flesh, Black Label , ...) dvd's for Canada at a range of 2.00 to 3.00 .....

Even the major guys cant seem to get 5 - 7$ for their DVD these days so you are looking at 3 - 5, but make sure you will get paid. I know a lot of people who sent their DVD's and never saw a penny

The thing is that some scenes were shot in Holland, and one even right next to Queen's palace in Amsterdam, and the guy who wants to buy the DVD is from Amsterdam.
So, for him they are not just a DVD's, they are very unique.
So, you think something like $5 would be a reasonable price to start, or it is still too high even for this situation?

I wouldn't start with listing all of these prices with someone who may want to buy. I would tell them what you want, for example, if you tell them $10 a unit and they tell you $5 a unit, tell them you can give them that price if they buy 100 extra copies. Do you follow?

I have some and I have been looking to do the same, 8 bucks is the lowest I have ever gone though. I just don't have the time or even a good understanding of it. All HD dvds too. How wants the job??

You miss read it. There was no assumption that you could not handle six bucks, so everything after that is sort of pointless and just argumentative and hostile.

You offered three bucks each to use them with all sorts of conditions.
I offered double that to get the same conditions, with the added condition that you could not buy it.

PS. In the event you do want to nail someone on ignorance and speaking of intelligence, it helps to spell intelligence correctly.

At no point for licensing no matter what quantity you buy, you'd never get it for that price.

I meant to say you have NO real leverage or power. Meaning that they may not pay you or they can pay you very little and you can take it or leave it.

For price, honestly I couldn't tell you for what you have. Everything I sell is very niche based or gay so I only know those prices. In addition, it's going to come down to how well you can negotiate and how good your content really is.

If I read another post of yours correctly, you want to sell this to a guy in another country? That screams bad news if you are selling on a per unit basis. Just sell him DVD rights to that country for $2000 or so. Unless he pays in advance I would not expect to ever see a penny of any movies you ship to another country.

Eight bucks a pop is a fair wholesale price depending on quality. I sell mine to online store from 8-10 per.

Actually on "blow out" or large bulk deals this is very possible.

Your old movies are not still selling for $8 per unit. At some time they will be discounted at a huge rate just to make space for new product. As far as the other shit he is asking, that is up to you but the clowns in LA who don't know any better, for sure they would agree to this.

I don't really understand what are DVD's with resell license. The end seller buys the DVD's and sells them, but what exactly license will be called a recell one?

thank you for advertising on my thread, but I am afraid that you don't really have FULL 2257 documents, as you claiming.
You see, the 2257 documents include 2(TWO) forms of a government issued ID's (which is VERY hard to obtain in Europe, not too many people have 2 of them).
A 2257 statement from every talent, that includes listing of all the stage names they were using.
The photo copies all of their documents SIGNED by the talents. Two copies of each, because the copy of the entire 2257 file must be kept at a second (separate) location.
So, even if you have the model releases and the photocopies of their ID's, it is not exactly a FULL 2257 package.

I saw some models we used to work with on your DVD and I saw it was shot in Holland.

not hijacking this thread...just curious about one thing...notime? Which agency is that? I know quite some of those models myself (I am an adult performer myself just not in these vids, they might have been shot before I started).....

I basically want to buy DVD with a license that allows me to sell them to other businesses instead of end users.

If anyone wants to sell their content to someone, but do not know the price to ask or is not a good negotiator hit me up and I will help you.

sure you can sell them to who ever you'd want to, but then the question is what deal you should get to make this re-sale reasonable for you. Some dealers are really crazy about these DVD's and they pay pretty well, because this kind of content is hard to get.
About the help with negotiating for selling the content, thank you, but our stuff is exclusive, and we intend to keep it this way, and as you can see I simply ignore all those "offers" ;)
