Think your favourite sponsor is being honest with you? Think again!
Day in and day out I see sponsors flaunting their stats from "random" affiliates on GFY and other boards, showing great ratios "mainly from TGP traffic" and other bullshit like that. Here's the deal, those great ratios are ALMOST ALWAYS join-page ratios. Don't believe me? Send a bunch of traffic to any sponsor's one paysite tour. Check the stats. Then switch your linking code and send the same amount straight to join. You'll see a nice difference in hits counted. Not gonna name any names, just be aware that some of the most vocal and self-professed honest sponsors use this technique. So don't let yourself get fooled by their "we're the best thing since sliced bread" rhetoric.

I must say that i agree with you!!!

I am willing to have people test this, everyone send traffic to the sponsor in my sig.

I agree wholeheartedly.
FYI, LionDollars stats show raw hits AND 2ND PAGE HITS, which includes direct to join page hits. The issue for us has never been raw vs unique, but HOW MANY PEOPLE LAND ON THE JOIN OR CLICK THROUGH TO JOIN. Here is my personal account stats for the month so far - my OWN traffic, TGP's, blog network etc: Username Hits Uniques Joins Rebills Refunds Chargebacks toyboyXXX 70945 25390 164 182 11 8 Hits = raw hits Uniques = 2nd page/Join page hits Now that makes 1:432 is to RAW (not uniques) and 1:154 is to join. The interesting thing is that many affiliates look at their stats, ask the question as to why they look funny, get the above explanation and come back blank. The other thing is that even my personal stats above are total bullshit when it comes to the usual affiliate. I KNOW my traffic, I filter it, massage it, re-route it and clean it, because I know how to, and trust me, there are many peeps out there MUCH better at it than me. That is why TGP and Blog traffic still works so well in my case. 2c ;-) |

For NATS programs, other than on tours... So hosted galleries, promo tools, ect. If you 'direct link to the join page' it will not track clicks and it will not set a cookie. Yes, this method tosses ratios off for galleries, very much so.
With NATS codes, if you add /join to the end of a linking code, it will take you to the join page. It sets a cookie and tracks the click. So if you look at your sponsor galleries, and you see direct join page linking codes (for nats programs) you may want to tell them the proper way to link to join pages, so your traffic will be tracked properly. If you see proper /join links for nats progs, you know it's 100% tracking every click, every time.. and setting a proper cookie. Any NATS owners reading this: If you hard link join pages, let say the visitor previously visited one of your other Paysites. When the visit the direct linked join page, the "other" paysites join page will pull up. |

I dont care if sponsor A shows me 50 hits and 10 sales
and sponsor B shows me 2000 hits and 5 sales.. First works for me ;) But if you would like to test your clicks on us, go for it! You'll be happy! |
:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
You guys are way over analyzing this, isn't it 1000 times easier to just make shit up on the spot? "Our site converts at 1 in {random number between 100 and 200} on tgp traffic!" |
Bull shitting affiliates is a standard promotion practice on most boards. The stupid get fooled, the wise do not. Can be sponsors or affiliates with a coded link. No news here.
The last year has been bad for online porn, anyone who says it's otherwise it a FUCKING LIAR. But in thread after thread sponsors will tell everyone they are converting as well or better than ever. Just in the hope of a few gullible webmasters sending a few more clicks. Scraping the barrel. Yes we're doing worse than a year ago. And honest enough to admit it. The problem is affiliates who get fooled don't come back and expose the bull shitters. |

This thread deserves a sig spot and a "I wish we could know who you were talking about"

I think if you ask most reputable programs they will tell you exactly what their stats relay. Its not like its hard to test. If you find a progam that lies... stop promoting them and let people know thier name.
As for shaving; there is a VERY simple and easy way to detect it. Run your finger over the area. If it feels smooth... well... you know what's up. :/ |
We had this conversation before Damage 'elsewhere' if you recall and I dont get it either how it's become an accepted industry norm. As a webmaster and TGP/MPG owner I always hated this smoke and mirrors from sponsors. One thing we take pride in at NScash is that we ONLY count first page hits, not 2nd page, not join page, but FIRST page hits and we'll put our first page ratios against any sponsor any day. What you see is what you get...and that's it should be.
:2 cents: and /end shameless plug :winkwink: |

Unless its pretty much your best damn friend a ratio is useless. Statistics can be interpreted so many different ways you need a paragraph explanation to qualify it and conveniently these guys never include the paragraph.
|
I've always believed that it's very important to get an accurate assessment of your true numbers... not just what the sponsor gives you. When comparing ratios across program, you need the ability to compare apples to apples, not apples to bananas.
Fortunately with our system you can do this... we show you numbers on first page, second page, trailers, and the join page. Allows you to get a true assessment of your numbers. |
this thread is going to be interesting..
|
In the end the $$ earned is the important part but It's still nice to see click statistics to measure certain things.
But since this thread was about sponsors showing stats to get more affiliates, those numbers usually mean jack shit, can be targetted SE traffic but they always say It's TGP. |
If you aren't sending to Join page, you're missing out!
