If your vaio has blu-ray and an HDMI port, one would assume it has HDCP. One would also assume your TV would be HDCP compliant unless it's old. Even without it as far as I know no studios were using it yet anyways. Which blu-ray did you buy. Just use component cables if you can then the HDCP won't matter.

Now you know what it feels like to be a surfer screwed up by shit DRM on a porn site.

As stated above, it will be a problem with HDCP and your TV not supporting it. See if there are any firmware updates available for your TV.

ouch. I read that HDMI has the same quality as DVI, but allows for DRM filtering. What a burn.:(

Some sort of DRM is the way of the future. Get used to it.

mikesouth 10-25-2008 09:47 AM

using component cables wont help...if the hdcp isnt detected the component cables only output 480P

your vaio is hdcp that means your TV isnt or you possibly have a faulty hdmi cable

Shit DRM, yes.. Problem is, DRM isn't shit.

Ever watch the news online, or hulu, or any legal online streaming tv? Did you notice the DRM, probably not.. but it is protected.

Educate yourself.. DRM is the future for the entire Internet.

DRM is evil! This exact problem lead me to using a popcorn hour and downloading blu-ray rips all while sticking with DVD for purchases. If you purchase a copy of the movie in ANY format you should be able to watch it however you want.

You need a HDCP stripper. This device works on everything. There is a cheaper older model too that you can get for prob $75

I did once an update for a dvd player but how would you do a TV firmware update?

You downloading blu-ray rips is the reason why they have DRM. Try stopping that and maybe just maybe one day they get rid of DRM.
