Anyone doing flash videos only in members area?

I think it is, personally. They key to keeping subscribers is the user experience.

i would imagine so, everyone has flash, as opposed to mediaplayer/realplayer/etc.

I may be tech dense. Doesnt a windows PC pretty much come standard with ability to play a .wmv and doesnt a mac come standard with the ability to play .mpeg/.mpg? And flash is a plug in.

on the other hand, not having downloadable vids is one less point of difference from the tubes...

the issue is trying to make it harder to file save as and having your shit all over the net 50x quicker than if you did flash

or is DRM a better option

if you use a flash player that doesn't have the flv url embedded in the page, it's actually pretty difficult for most surfers to rip that content...

I dont think it's enough. I would offer them as the main format, but I would give my members other options. At least one downloadable one.

Yes streaming only using Flash media 3 servers via cdn from cavecreek. Our codec is a h264 .mp4. I believe the downloadable videos in the members area days need to end. :2 cents:

Too many like to download, they would get pissed if they didnt have a download option. But of course you could let them download flv too.

Oh I know why you asked and I really would side with embeded would be the most protective.

My question was a side one as someone said something that threw me off and I did not know the answer to.

that's my thought. i think the way to go is to add a site to your network thats just embedded flash and ease it in. I think of doing that with my next site. The problem is its so hard to get a straight answer on the important questions. Like how many actual members complained and canceled. How did it change your bandwidth bill, did it change your server needs.
