Can The Lakers win 70 games this year?

Its early, but so far, they look very good; particularly on defense. If they can keep Kobe's minutes to 30ish a game, I say they have a shot at it.

mozadek 10-30-2008 10:46 AM

They beat up on the shitty Blazers & Clippers and you think they'll win 70!?!? They wont win 70. Most likely they will win the west again but not 70.

GrStallion 10-30-2008 10:50 AM

Hell No! Go Utah Jazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

No41 :pimp

It's still too early to tell with the Lakers.

CyberAgeGary 10-30-2008 12:18 PM

Don't be surprised if they tease with the all time record of most wins in a nba season set by the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls.

72 wins is not too much to ask for.

Frankthefreakintank 10-30-2008 12:23 PM

if they could keep their whole team healthy all year maybe, but theres absolutely no way Bynum, Gasol or Kobe will all stay healthy all year long, but they look as dominant as Boston in the east, can't for Phx against LA thats gonna be a dirty heavyweight matchup

axelcat 10-30-2008 12:24 PM

I think they will get 75 wins this year, they are so deep. The biggest improvment this year is that are focusing on defense, the twin towers look so intimidating. They are for real this year.

JA$ON 10-30-2008 12:26 PM

I wish thy could, but it wont happen

If they played in the East, then yes. But the west is to strong.

62 wins

gigoloCooper 10-30-2008 12:27 PM

screw basketball, they took my Supersonics out of Seattle =(

Eric 10-30-2008 01:26 PM

Defense and focus is going to be huge toward reaching this goal. Also the fact that they are so deep is going to play a huge roll. I can't think back to a time when a team was this completely stacked.

tiger 10-30-2008 01:38 PM

Not impossible but the west is tough not to mention variables like injuries.

They are that good though. I still think right now they are playing at about 80-85%.

Defense is the key they have tons of offense. I want to see how they play against a good team before I get too excited. But the nice thing it seems like Bynums legs are starting to come back.

g$$$ 10-30-2008 01:41 PM

Negative..won't happen...

XBIZ JenM 10-30-2008 01:44 PM

I'm a believer!! They can definitely do it.

So what about that Laker game you promised???? :)

seeandsee 10-30-2008 01:48 PM

Isradude 10-30-2008 01:49 PM

68 more to go....

CyberAgeGary 10-30-2008 03:52 PM

Who would be interested in going to the Laker game on Nov 18th, The day before Webmaster Access starts? I could either set up a suite, or give away tickets here as a prize. Let me see what type of response I get before I do that...

Post if you would be down to go that night, they are playing the Chicago Bulls.

Definitely down to go!

And they can get 70!

Birdman33 10-30-2008 05:16 PM

only way they can is if kobe gets injured no way they can win 70 games with his 30% shooting. Hopefully he is in the top 200 this year in shooting % which he has never been in

Supz 10-30-2008 05:22 PM

Not sure about how many games they might win but I do think they have a great chance to win it all, without any injuries or major happenings

AMDWarrior 10-30-2008 09:31 PM

No way..and it's not 30% it's 32%..

Spunky 10-30-2008 09:34 PM

Will be a interesting year

Drake 10-30-2008 10:23 PM

Cory, your Lakers fantasies will be the end of you.

Nardimus 10-30-2008 10:38 PM

Who cares.

MikeSmoke 10-30-2008 10:38 PM

Can they? Sure. So can the Celtics.
But it's a long season. Neither will.

Biggy 10-30-2008 11:26 PM

i liked trevor ariza when he was a rookie on the knicks. 70 is tough in the west, a lot of things would have to go right... Kobe is solid, but he's no MJ, not until he wins that 2nd 3-peat.

Ariza is great. On both ends of the court.

OY 10-31-2008 09:03 AM

I believe they can flirt with it. Lakers are looking SWEET this season. Lets hope we stay away from serious injuries!

Go Lakers!

Just_Dave 10-31-2008 10:19 AM

Cory W 11-10-2008 10:23 AM

The real challenge they face is keeping that headcase Kobe in check. The closest MJ comparison Kobe deserves is;

What happens when you Mix Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman?
Kobe Bryant

I was in one of those 72 wins they had.
That was the best year for the Bulls.

So down for that, never been to a game before.

SCtyger 11-10-2008 01:09 PM

72 is tough.. you need a lot of luck to avoid injuries.

Lakers look good so far, but I'm still weary of them being paperweights. What's going to happen when Boston punches them in the face like last year.

This week will be a good test, we'll be playing the better teams. 72 wins or not.. for a young team like the Lakers, we definitely will need Home court throughout. That was the biggest advantage last year. We had the homecourt in the west, was able to build momentum with early home wins... then went to Boston and was never able to establish the needed momemtum that a young team needs early on.

Go LakeShow!

tiger 11-10-2008 01:11 PM

Hell of a good game last night, they dominated a very good team.
