or "he-ro" with annunciated the "H"


We were i think in mtl or somehwere and i said "ji ro" and it seems they pronounce it like "he ro"

Greek girl i used to date told me a sound like "year row". I said ji ro at a diner in jersey... she corrected me hah.

In some places it's a hero, other's a gyro, others a grinder, others a sub (or submarine sandwich) You hear all 4 in the NY/PA/NJ area.

Juicy, I'm in Montreal and have always said Ji-ro, so it means that yuo probably have 5 testicules!! ;)

Since when do NYers care about how other people pronounce things? Just tell them that's how you say it in NY and NYers are always right. Geez...you travel too much and trying to appease the natives. Just tell them the right way to do things and make them adapt to you, not the other way around.

This is the way it was pronounced for me in OH and Fl when I lived there.

i've always said yee-ro.

gyro as in gyroscope if its used as short for gyroscope

yee row if using the word for a greek sandwich made with lamb
