Any Pennywize users here? V3.0 question
Has anyone here successfully upgraded to Pennywize Version 3.0 yet?
I had one of my hosts technicians do the installation for me yesterday (since I'm completely incompetent regarding these things) and he said everything should be ok. Fact is, I don't have any stats. Of course I mailed PW support, but they usually take their time to answer. Do any of you guys know if the PW people need to "activate" the new installation or should the protection already be ON after the modifications and the apache restart? Thanks, Tom |
Would anybody recommend Proxypass over Pennywize 3.0? I am looking into both and heard good things about both products.

We are currently testing the new version of PW, and we didn't have to do any sort of activation. We just installed the new version, modified the apache config file, restarted apache and all worked fine...

Anyone use Password Trojan and have some comments to share ?
I need to make a decision between Pennywize or Password Trojan. |
Tom:
I was with Pennywize for years and every year they would have a problem at least one month withdrawing my money. Every year we'd straighten it out but this year I e-mailed them 4 times with no response. I don't think there's anyone home over there so I switched to a program my host offers for $10 a month instead of the $30 I was paying. |
You can call it spam but we have just opened http://www.passprotector.com today.
|
Pennywize is still the best.

I've used Pennywize for years and like it.
On one of my other servers I use Iprotect which comes with Apache. No problem with it but doesn't have as many features as Pennywize. |
NOt a bad price for such good reviews.

Does Pennywize show Daily Usage by Member?
|
Hi Guys, Steve from Pennywize here
chicktrainer - give me a bell, [email protected] and i'll help you out. My tech guys are flat out at the moment with new installs and upgrades so I apologise for the delay. I've also put more dedicated staff on recently, because i know we've soemtimes taken some time to respond to people, so this should improve. Pennywize shows daily usage by member, yes. Alot of webmasters simply use pennywize for stats on their members, or more commonly (as we are learning) to dispute chargebacks. Per member you will get hits, bytes, logins, subnets & number of minutes spent online. With version 3, we have also included two types of geographical information about a user, here is an example: user: XXXXXXX Subnet ISP/Hosting Company Geographical Location 152.163.188 dns-01.ns.aol.com USA 152.163.189 dns-02.ns.aol.com USA 168.226.61 dns1.internet-mrse-solutions.com ARG 194.224.100 artemis.ttd.net ESP 200.250.8 NS.EMBRATEL.NET.BR BRA 208.163.32 ns4.cw.net USA 208.57.162 ns1.mgci.com USA 212.144.132 ns2.arcor-ip.de DEU 213.224.83 SVC00.APNIC.NET BEL Obviously this account was blocked! Let me know if anyone has any questions Steve |
Steve:
Just wanted to thank you again for the superfast response to my last couple of mails. Redirect is working like a charm now, V.3.0 rocks and I'm glad I stuck with you guys. Good to know that there's more tech support staff now, quite frankly that was the only real criticism I had regarding your - in all other respects - excellent product/service. Tom |
