Decent video camera UNDER $1K?

Yeah, I realize it may sound like an impossible mission, but I'm looking for information on any digital video camera that is worth a snot or two under a thousand US dollars, preferrably using HDD storage, and NOT hi-def (standard def is preferred). Don't need a ton of features either. So...any suggestions? Thanks in advance!:thumbsup

I have a Sony HDR SR-5 has a 40 gig hard drive with HD and Standard Modes. Works really well.

I have a ref link if you are interested.

Stay away from the new under 1K HD cameras, go with something well known and tried. Canon is good.

Im looking for a digital camera with remote control capability (I heard only SLR cameras allow that so if that's true then must be an SLR) and HD Camcorder. Used is fine as long as it works! If anyone is selling one for a decent price hit me up plz :)
My name is Tonya by the way new to the board

I agree, down the road you would be sorry if you didn't.

The camera I have was just under 1k and just because a camera is OVER 1 k does not mean it will be any better.

Remember that you can always get a new one in 2 years and in the mean time this one will do just fine. It produces great quality videos.
