Presidents have never been the smartest people in the country, some may have thought it but actually were... doubtful. We have had a few major exceptions where we did end up with someone very smart. It just has never been the norm for us and I can not think it applies to other leaders either in other countries.

Presidents come from politicians who can lead and inspire their base, that is all. Well that and they need to be ego maniacs.

If you look at what McCain has done in his political career, it's a lot better then Bush. If you look at their lifes, it's very similar. So voting for McCain alone isn't that bad if you beleive in what he beleives... he's got a good record. But if you take the fact that Palin would have been vice president, it's a disaster... anybody that voted McCain is fucking retarded.

Think of them as professional actors, they have no 'real' power to change but are controlled like a director controls the making of a movie.
