Harajuku convention in LA this weekend.. anyone have more info?
I was just in Little Tokyo earlier and I saw like 20 Harajuku girls walking around. The last time I saw them all out in full force was during the Cherry Blossom festival in the spring.
I stopped one and she said there was a convention at the Kyoto and that she was from Louisiana. I said the "Kyoto?" and she said, "yeah, I think" Another girl was there and I said are you here for the show as well, and she said yeah. So I came home, called the Kyoto, and they've heard of no such thing. I called the right Kyoto because there is only one in Little Tokyo, and I didn't think to confirm the location with the other girl who was from Texas. So all I know is that there were two different girls from different parts of the nation that came in especially for the show and the one I spoke with got the name of the place wrong. Anyone heard of anything like that in Little Tokyo this weekend? I wanna go and shoot as many pics as I can. I dig that look. |
bump for me.

I don't know how or why I talked to the only two girls that didn't know fuck all about where they were or what they were doing. They sounded pretty convincing at the time though. |
I used to hang out there all the time after high school with my asian friends.
We used to drink and party at Oiwake. Good times. :) |

Actually.. this was shot closer to where you used to eat. (This is base of that big tower thing, with the red poles holding it up)

yep that is the place. Nice pics!
I had fake cherry blossom branches in my trunk for months that we snatched from the decorations one year. :1orglaugh but I had to stop hanging out with my asian high school friends, so I quit going. None of them could hold their liquor and I wasn't really into asian guys. I love J-town though. One of my friends used to work at that badass arcade in the mall over there and we had free tokens all night. and the food is always excellent. Curry house another great place to eat. |
Turns out it's a privately hosted Tea Party. Apparently you needed to buy tickets way in advance.
Hwever the Pacific Media Expo is in town and that looks promising... I'd like to go to this as well. http://pacificmediaexpo.info/2008/index.php |
