I love good coffee. I am big fan of Seattle's Best and Peet's, drink it straight up, black no sugar :thumbsup

What's your favorite?

baddog 11-09-2008 04:08 PM

MandyBlake 11-09-2008 04:10 PM

I love Seattle's Best too. Do you go to the coffee shop or get their beans and make it yourself?

Crimson Cup's Celtic Grogg - "A sweet and creamy combination of caramel, butterscotch, and hazelnut flavors". Crimson Cup is a local coffee company that just recently opened their own stores, but I've been buying bags of their Celtic Grogg beans for years from local specialty shops. Soooo gooooood.

Sounds like dessert instead of coffee :upsidedow

I like coffee flavored coffee myself, always grind my own. Never buy any particular name brand - just bulk beans.

SUGAR RULES

I have an insane sweet tooth. My coffee always involves some sort of flavored liquor or creamer or SOMETHING.

Strangely, though, I drink green tea and other bitter teas like they're going out of style, but would never sweeten them.

d-null 11-09-2008 04:42 PM

I tried a good Guatemalan Antigua organic bean the other day at Whole Foods, they ground it and brewed it right in front of me, drank it black :thumbsup

if I had to choose a fast coffee, then Starbucks for sure over Tim Hortons... Tim Hortons is truck stop type coffee :2 cents:

Lycanthrope 11-09-2008 05:15 PM

A good Kona blend does it for me. Black. No sugar.

But in a pinch, Dunkins or George Webb's (A restaurant in Wisconsin only I think?) will do.

zEn84 11-09-2008 05:16 PM

Americano, just black from my own machine, I go with the espresso beans from cafebritt.com, both Costa Rica and Peru. Can't get over how fast that shit arrives as well. Lots of goodies on that site

WebairGerard 11-09-2008 05:28 PM

Mike also brought back a ton of GREAT coffee from his trip to Costa Rica. gotta see if he has anymore :)

starpimps 11-09-2008 05:30 PM

sweetened condensed milk with seattles best beans = godly.
once you go with condensed milk you cant go back to regular cream + sugar

http://startcooking.com/public/IMG_9224.JPG

take one tablespoon (65 calories ) and mix with any type of coffee, although i like mine pressed

if its not enough do 2.

:thumbsup

I get fresh roasted coffee down the street from where I live. they roast every day, different varieties. right now I'm drinking kenya and java, last week kona and guatamalan. fresh roast makes all the difff in the world.

the store bought coffees are roasted to much because they need to have some flavor. fresh roast has a natural coffee flavor, you can actually taste the diff between the different coffees.

do yourself a favor and hit dana up, try some fresh roast, he'll ship to your location.

If I am not drinking black, Bailey's is my favorite creamer.

I actually have some regular and hazelnut now. I never liked flavored coffee until I had Dunkins hazelnut. still "coffee" flavored coffee is the best. :)

LatinCams 11-09-2008 07:32 PM

Don matter where u drink or which brand it is as long as it is COLOMBIAN COFFEE :thumbsup

webmasterchecks 11-09-2008 07:34 PM

turkish

obviously hard to find/brew

Bridgette 11-09-2008 07:38 PM

The Honolulu Coffee Company's 100% Kona roast is delish. I'm also in love with Illy for espresso. Other than that, Dunkin Donuts with half a packet of Swiss Miss -- oh, guilty pleasure. :)

Deej 11-09-2008 10:57 PM

I just like to try all sorts of fresh ground beans through my french press - got some new espresso beans - trying y first pot now and im zingin!!!!

bausch 11-09-2008 11:00 PM

I drink any coffee pods that work with my Senseo coffee maker, I drink Senseo pods, just bought Folger and Godiva pods...

I never tried grinding beans and all that crap. I'm too lazy. It's already enough work for me to put water in the reservoir and wait 90 seconds for the damn machine to warm up. As hell I'm going to grind something... Don't have energy or the inclination.

And then I put in the Coffeemate liquid creamer... its very good, much better than the powder..

Spunky 11-09-2008 11:01 PM

Folgers,good to the last drop

Technically most espresso's and beans have less caffeine than normal coffee. Though I think it is more the machine than the bean myself and that it should extract same amount in a press.

NinjaSteve 11-09-2008 11:30 PM

Folgers. Just add hot water, stir, drink.

YOus ir are correct - it all depends on the roast and like i sadi i just try different beans out all the time - this one seemed to pick me right up.

I feel the press extracts more thoroughly giving a more robust flavor. Only way to know is to try and that's my experience.

starpimps 11-10-2008 01:04 AM

for all you kona people, ive tried 100% kona and kona blended but i dont seem to lke it at all

Press can work just as well. Often issue with drips though is lack of initial heat.

Ideally you want the water to be 200 degrees F (ok I think technically it is something silly like 199.7 or some shit). I would also say use good water (filtered tap is fine). I would also keep in mind that with a french press you need a fairly course grind. Most people also suggest 2 tablespoons per 6 ounces of water - I go a little weaker myself.

If your still not to sure about the taste and the french press. Get your water to the proper temp. I like electric kettles, they save you tons of time in kitchen (if you need one buy largest you can get). Then just fine grind some beans, put it into a filter, and then slowly pour the water over the grounds - doh! keep a cup or something under the filter. This will pull the flavor, caffeine, etc. without many of the bitter elements nor other impurities you could get from soaking them in water.

Side note: anyone try that coffee bean that comes out of the poop of that one animal yet? Yes I am wierd and curious to know if the price is worth trying it out of curiosity. Though scared at same time. Not cause it was pooped but because what if it is like the best stuff ever and then you could be stuck wanting it all the time and it is the most expensive type out there.
