jakethedog 11-10-2008 10:45 AM

slick design and product .. should win an invention of the year for what it can and more than likely will save finger wise ..

Supz 11-10-2008 10:45 AM

is that like the solar powered flashlight?

amacontent 11-10-2008 10:46 AM

I wanna see the person to volunteer to test it out for real

FakeNick 11-10-2008 10:46 AM

that isnt a finger though, it is a hot dog ;)

i want to see a video with someone using their finger, then i might beleive it actually works ;)

Pete-KT 11-10-2008 10:52 AM

That is BADASS

Ron Bennett 11-10-2008 11:08 AM

Using a real finger would be cool, and greatly help in viral marketing - many people would share such a video around.

I don't know the name of it, nor really want to search for it, but when I was young I had a toy saw that cut real wood, but would not cut fingers. The idea goes way back, this is certainly different but in theory much the same.

Fletch XXX 11-10-2008 11:19 AM

using a circulating saw is more exciting when you think you can still cut a limb off!

I worked at a cabinet shop myself in the early 90's and it was shocking how many guys working there were missing digits. They hired a bunch of high school kids to help out during the summer, and the quarterback of the football team was catching on a rip saw and took off his thumb and forefinger...no more football, but then again, no more cabinet shop after his parents sued and OSHA got involved.

damn nice invention.

F-U-Jimmy 11-10-2008 05:28 PM

My day job was special effects for some 32 years and i've seen a few accidents that may not have happened if this had been around then. It always seems to happen to experienced people who should know better. I saw one guy get 3 fingers cut off on a small 12 inch table saw. Someone distracted him and bang fingers flying everywhere and his t shirt covered in blood. Takes more than 6 months to get over the trauma of something like that.

One older guy was using a 14 inch planner someone, called out his name and zip he lost a finger. He asked us to find it in the pile of sawdust, we found 24 perfect slices with the bone in the middle like you would slice a ham. I still use a saw table almost every day so i'm getting one of these just in case i make a foolish mistake :thumbsup

Ayla_SquareTurtle 11-10-2008 05:40 PM

My middle school shop teacher cut his finger off on a table saw. True story.

beemk 11-10-2008 06:33 PM

what happens when the brake fails for some reason? its better to be expecting that the saw can cut off your finger.

If you are talking about those seen on the infomercials - they don't work. I was getting ready to buy one a few months back and the reviews on Amazon rated it just above a toy.

Yes it won't burn you, but, well go to Amazon and read the reviews.
I ended up buying a bigger traditional electric one.
