MTV Cribs - Anybody watch this?
This has to be a fucking farce. How the hell can rap stars that I've never even heard of have 25 million dollar homes, helicopters, another 10 mil in Lambos, Hummers, Bentleys etc.???
Hell, Jagger, Elton John, Gene Simmons, Jon Bon Jovi, and many others that have been around for decades don't even have that much shit. WTF is up with that? :question |
Rentals.
|
it's a leased lifestyle.
|
It's pretty much widely known that MTV and/or the actual artist will rent these places out for this specific purpose.
|
I have never seen it;)
|
Anyone remember the Roots video where they lampooned the "leased lifestyle"?
|
Ghetto fabulous
|
I didn't know they were leased. I guess a lapse of common sense on my behalf. That's messed up though. You got all these little kids lookin up to these fools thinkin that they can do the same. I'll bet the videos are the same story...

95% of the cars/homes/toys youy see on these videos and the music videos are Rented out and or leased, barely any of it actually belongs to the owners of it.
If you wanna watch a cribs thats real check out the 50cent on he actually bought that house from Mike Tyson when coke bought out his 10% share of Vitamin Water for around 400+million |
had no idea that show was still on, i stopped watching mtv when they stopped playing music
|
They got the top 10 largest homes countdown on right now. some crazy shit.
|
When the show the show first started it was a lot more "REAL". I would be amazed at how small some of the homes were because I was thinking they were "rich and famous" but now people I know can't make that much dough have the 20 million dollar mansions and about 50 cars, etc..

I was always surprised by Moby's house. Dam that place looks cold and empty. He needs some stuff in there.
The best was when they had that guy from Virgin records, dang he didn't just have a crib, dude had a freak'n island! |

Oh yeah that island episode was sweet.

People still watch MTV?
By the late 1980s, music videos were mostly relegated to late night, and by the early 90s, music videos became few and far between - mostly rap / hip-hop a few hours per day. And why watch MTV when there's MusicChoice ... music all the time without the talk and other nonsense. Even most young folks these days don't bother with MTV when they can get the latest music, videos, commentary, etc all on the net. Ron |
Its a funny show
