Top Bucks asks: No more Xsells, what PPS payout?

I got the email too, nice idea but unless the industry as a whole makes the move, I'm not willing to take a paycut. As long as the x-sales are visible and above the submit button, I'm ok with them.

I agree. As a churn and burn SE spammer I couldn't care less about x sales as long as they don't affect conversions - I just want more money. :2 cents:

If they're not, just make the cross sells ethical... Anyone that thinks ethical cross sales are still wrong doesn't have much for traffic anyway.

Someone showed me some numbers the other day that made my eyes pop out of my head. Just like xpics and babenet, these scammers will eventually be shut down and the people who are still around will end up paying the price, just like we have in the past.

I understand your point as far as your revenue is concerned, but I hope you have a system in place to change links quick once a sponsor gets their processing shut down.

To clarify, I don't think x-sells in general are a scam....I think that hiding them below the submit button and not disclosing enough info about them is a scam.....this practice has become more and more common and the people doing that might affect the ability of anyone else to offer any time of x-sell in the future.

the only people that care are the $10 a day losers posting on gfy and acting like they have ethics, but in reality would sell their own sister in a heartbeat

Ron Levi tried this once as well.... some might remember the results. An industry full of barely functional, self destructive, socially retarded, short sighted, self serving people only want to get paid on Friday.. and they want that check to be as big as possible.

Congrats & bump for the survey! You got balls. 30$ PPS no console and 35$ with consoles seems to be the fair price for PPS.

I don't see them going away any time soon. The shady ones where its under the submit button or the ones which force you into it (even if you uncheck it) will go away, but so long as its clearly defined, I see it staying for a long time. Worst case scenario is I see prechecked not being allowed.

I have had this convo many times with people... lately it's been inside of my company and we are trying to find ways to stave off the recession. But you can't do anything clever because people just care about ratios and the $ at the end. I could rant so hard right now but I'm going to stop.

At least I'm not the only one that sees this.

Some programs are already paying $30 per trial x-sale and console free.

I think Perfect Gonzo are paying $40 PPS console-free without cross sales.

Kind of like the US Banking industry for the past few years with these mortgages?

X-sells are always a scam because it is trying to force products on users that they did not want in the first place. I feel that even having x-sells above the signup button will hurt sales because the user will see that and think the site is shady and therefore exit.

i don't think the banking industry was forcing 2-3 additional, poorly disclosed home loans on borrowers where they looked at their bill two months later and saw triple house payments due

that was long ago, I'd bet most of those people aren't even around today.

Really, there are more honest webmasters today, the ones who have been around and plan on staying around.

Options are always nice.

I am noticing more lately there are programs that have "Without Cross Sales" options in their links.

First it was the no popup options, now we need no cross sale options. :)

you show me a "stand up", "top notch" upstanding member of the bro club... and i'll show you the laundry list of bullshit they simply haven't got called out for yet or been caught doing yet.

honesty has nothing to do with anything. a few years ago, i was finally forced to accept the fact that no matter how honest you want to be, you are simply putting yourself at a severe disadvantage to those who are going to do shady shit and do it at everyone's expense.

one simple fact is that this industry is highly disorganized and dysfunctional and full of self destructive, self serving, lazy people who gravitate to the point of least resistance like water.. then blame tube sites when it stops working.

it would be nice to see someone make positive changes and do the right thing for surfers, themselves and webmasters and the industry as a whole. but in my opinion, its naive to expect to not be punished for it.
