Question for paysite webmasters and owners

I bet most paysite owners don't know the answer to this question. But you should!!

"How much are you getting paid per picture view?"

In other words, in your members area, when someone views a picture of your hot model/models/whatever, how much are you getting paid?

Here is one formula as I see it. There could be more factors but here is the easiest way to calculate it:

total_monthly_earnings / total_pictures_delivered

Where:
total_monthly_earnings = your income, minus webmaster commissions.
total_pictures_delivered = all the pictures that all your members view in a month.

If you have 100 members, paying $29.95 per month ($3000 per month income), and you're delivering 50000 members area pictures per month, then you're getting paid 6 cents per picture.

Have you ever done that calculation? Do you even track how many members are pictures you are sending out? I would be really interested to know the real numbers, not guesses. Answers like "Oh I would guess about..." or "It's not important, what matters is bandwidth or this or that"... Those are pussy answers.

How much you are actually getting paid per picture? Do your members have a wide gap in how much they pay per picture (some paying 3 cents per view, while others paying 30 cents?)

why do you ask?

nice, i like threads like this.

im also a nerd for the "how much per click" stats too...

CIVMatt 11-21-2008 07:28 AM

Interesting but I have better things to think about

That info would be about as useful as how many hairs I pull out when I wipe my ass.

However, which ones they stroked it to would be better info IMO.

This is so awesome. So far all the answers are "I don't care about how much money, my penis is much too small to find out how to improve my business".

So you really don't know how much you're getting paid? Awesome.

Same thing as asking "What is your convertion ratio?". If you spend $100 on advertising, you should be at least somewhat aware of how much you get in return. If you have no idea if you're making $105 in return or $95 that's a problem.

When you shoot content, how much per picture do you get paid?

It's important to know, especially when you handle the entire distribution chain, i.e. are a photographer with a paysite; shooting, distributing and monetizing your own material.

It's nice to know how much you're making when someone sees your clip on say AEBN and when the same clip is viewed elsewhere, like on HotMovies, a clips site or your own paysite.

Saying "who cares, it's all money" isn't good enough :2 cents:

DutchTeenCash 11-21-2008 09:34 AM

ok say its 5 cent or 5 dollar

so what do you do next with this info?

Peter Romero 11-21-2008 09:38 AM

Surfers and girls look at pictures - men buy video. Get it straight.

andy83 11-21-2008 09:40 AM

doubt any sponser would give u a honest answer.. but yeah, that info will be interesting.

AnniKN 11-21-2008 10:04 AM

Although it is indeed something interesting, there will always be people who are paying a dollar per picture, or 5 dollars per video and others who are not even paying a cent... but each compensates the other and every picture made is there forever to convert new users and retain the existing ones, and will be paid for many times.

Personally, I am developing my own CMS for our future paysites, and it indeed has a tracking method for pictures viewed and videos downloaded, so I will know about this :)

fuzebox 11-21-2008 10:14 AM

I don't have any photos in my members areas, unless you count the thumbnails the members click to view the videos :)

Really? Is this what your members mostly pay for?

camperjohn64 11-21-2008 10:46 AM

>> doubt any sponser would give u a honest answer.. but yeah, that info will be interesting.

This is why I wanted to ask for ratio, and not just ask "Hey, how much money do you have in your bank account and what is your bank account # and password". I am hoping that this is a question that people will ask themselves just as much as I want to know it.

>>ok say its 5 cent or 5 dollar. so what do you do next with this info?
Well first I would compare it with others. Knowing your convertion ratio, or how much your paying for bandwith, or whatever x/y is useful to compare with how much someone else is paying for bandwidth or x/y.

I think this is why I want to get at the root of an entire site. On average, what kind of numbers are you seeing?

How about this then, let's change the question. About how many pictures does your average member view per month/day? Does anyone have stats on that? How much do you charge per month on your site?

Wow I've really opened up a can of worms here.

Let's extend the question to videos too then: How much per minute of video do you get paid?

Again, in your members area only. How many minutes of video on average are your members viewing per day/month, and how much do you charge per month?

I am asking all this, as a root of the business fundamental: "Know where your money comes from".

Tom_PM 11-21-2008 10:52 AM

I'm pretty sure some of the spreadsheets and dashboards out there would be staggering in their ability to provide minute details like that. To the owner(s) and top managment maybe.

camperjohn64 11-21-2008 12:22 PM

Bump.

Anyone got numbers yet?

Thats what i'm saying. I dont care how many pictures you look at, I care who you look at.

camperjohn64 11-24-2008 12:04 AM

Bump.

So doesn't anyone know what their content is worth?

mynameisjim 11-24-2008 12:14 AM

The person that counts my money would know that although I would probably find out about it through one my intermediaries, as none of my staff is allowed to talk to me directly or even make eye contact with me.

However, I fail to see how knowing the number you are looking for will give you any insight into how to make more money.
