Do you use more then 1 monitor?

I currently only have 1 X 24" dell monitor and im thinking of getting another 24" -- rather then 1 big 30" monitor.

Suggestions?

candyflip 11-22-2008 09:56 AM

I have two here at home, but they're both hooked up two different PCs.

Both are 30'' and I don't think I could ever go back.

crockett 11-22-2008 09:57 AM

I use 3..

Two 19 inch Dell's for my PC and a 24inch for my iMac. I will say one of the reasons I don't use the imac as much for development work is because it's only 1 screen. Even though it's a bigger screen it still sucks to only have one.

I'd go for the two 24's, once you go to two monitors you will wonder how you lived with out them.

camperjohn64 11-22-2008 09:58 AM

I really like two monitors more than 1 big one. I didn't expect to either. I was forced to used two at my old place of work.

The deal with two monitors, is, instead of one large desktop, you actually have two desktops now. So I put my editor/dreamweaver/photoshop on one side, and I put my website or html on the other side.

Now, I have one workspace, and one "see the results" space. Much much better than having to click on the icons on the bottom and try to switch between windows.

Also, as far as resolution goes, I have two 24 inch, 1920x1200, giving me a total of 4 feet wide, 3840 pixels wide screen. I don't think you can get that in one large monitor.

Totally worth it for working.

Zuzana Designs 11-22-2008 10:01 AM

I have 2 24" and a 22" .. so 3 total

MikesTraffic 11-22-2008 10:05 AM

on my main rig I have one 22 inch widescreen monitor in the middle and 2 19" widescreen monitors (one on each side) so three total for this one machine....I can't use less then two, I prefer three though

DannysReviews|com 11-22-2008 10:06 AM

1 - 22 inch widescreen.
1 - 19 inch widescreen.

However they're hooked up to different machines.

Apple Cinema Displays ?? :thumbsup:thumbsup

SilentKnight 11-22-2008 10:43 AM

Here in the office we have five - if you count the laptop monitors. Largest is a 42". I generally use the 22" Viewsonic for most work (hooked to an Acer Aspire laptop).

martinsc 11-22-2008 10:45 AM

currently working on three monitors, one 22" wide, one 19", and notebook (17") screen - I love it :thumbsup

Stallion 11-22-2008 11:06 AM

I am running two 21 inch lcds on my main pc and a 24 inch widescreen lsd on my backup. Once I switched to 2 monitors it is hard to work on just one. lol.

Barefootsies 11-22-2008 11:10 AM

I have three 24".

Four if you include the laptop.

My Mac Pro is hooked up to a Dell monitor. I won them both, but still there's no way I'd pay my own money for the Apple monitors when the Dells aren't much different and about 1/3 the price.

The problem with the two giant screens is that I need two desks.

Bojangles 11-22-2008 11:32 AM

Yes I do. Just two at the moment, though.

nation-x 11-22-2008 01:38 PM

I have a 22" and a 19"... I wish the 19" were bigger... maye one day when I am rich... lol

Agreed on that. I will only pay Apple prices for Apple Computers. Monitors from Dell use Samsung displays and as far as I'm concerned, they are the best bang for the buck :thumbsup:thumbsup

kaktuz 11-22-2008 01:55 PM

2x19" here, awesome to work with, i have no clue if i could ever go back to 1 monitor ;)

Rorschach 11-22-2008 02:04 PM

This thread is useless without pics! We need to see some wank-worthy monitor setups now.

Adam_M 11-22-2008 02:41 PM

I use a 24" and a 22" and could never work on a single again.

germ 11-22-2008 03:55 PM

Ive got 2 24 inch widescreens.

adding the 2nd one was a GREAT idea. definitely go for it :thumbsup

woj 11-22-2008 04:56 PM

I use 2 here, at first I figured it would be stupid, but once I set it up I'm probably never going back to 1...

PantieZ 11-22-2008 04:56 PM

2x 17" screens powered by a Matrox card.

DualHead all the way !! Once you get used to you canīt work with just 1 screen anymore.

:)

Zorgman 11-22-2008 06:30 PM

Ok, so it's a pretty easy choice then. 2 x 24" monitors it is. :D

Thanks guys. Also if you got pics of your dual setup, post them. :)

VeriSexy 11-22-2008 06:45 PM

Dual certainly makes life easier

AnalProbe 11-22-2008 06:57 PM

1 Macbook Pro 15.4 "

1 26 " Samsung

1 21 " Wacom Cintiq tablet screen

1 19 " Dell (for checking looks and surfing)

scouser 11-22-2008 09:03 PM

i use two, but tbh 95% of the time i only look at one. the other is just handy to be there for those 5% of times.

qwe 11-22-2008 09:56 PM

i bought second one, and it had different color contrast then my original monitor (different brands) and I couldn't get used to looking at 2 different color contrasts, so I returned the other one....

tony286 11-22-2008 10:00 PM

I have two on two different computers. My editing computer is offline.

LoveSandra 11-22-2008 10:03 PM

i have only one 24"

GAMEFINEST 11-22-2008 10:05 PM

I only got one..

fallenmuffin 11-22-2008 10:06 PM

I only have 1 at the moment. Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW 22" Widescreen. However I have my 37" LCD HDTV hooked up to the computer also. So, technically I have 2.

HighEnergy 11-22-2008 10:30 PM

Funny thread, obviously no one here that designs "surfer friendly" web sites.

Design your sites on whatever walmart has on special, that's what your potential clients own and use daily. (or less)

What a bunch of sales gurus, :2 cents:

Corleone 11-22-2008 11:04 PM

one additional 22 inch screen. thinking about getting another one

What model Dell 24"? I love it more than the 23" Cinema Display I have at the office.

Brad Mitchell 11-22-2008 11:07 PM

I have 3 big 22" monitors, can't live without it for the last year, used to have 2 a few years ago...... once you go triple you can't go back :)

Mr Pheer 11-22-2008 11:10 PM

I have a 24" widescreen in the middle, and a pair of 21" widescreens turned sideways, one on each side of the 24" monitor.

FreeHugeMovies 11-22-2008 11:58 PM

I have 2 24's

fangtastic 11-23-2008 12:12 AM

In the office we have:

40 inch Sony Bravia
36 inch Viewsonic
24 inch Apple Home Cinema Display
and six 22 inch displays (LG, View Sonic etc)

and a few laptops (Mac, Dell, etc)

It's really hard to look at the little laptop screens after working on the 40 inch

Dell 24" Entry (E248WFP) Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD Monitor (ANA, DVI)

It's NOT the ultra sharp.

Matyko 11-23-2008 05:11 AM

Heya multi-display gurus, I need your help!
Working on a 22" TFT attached to my notebook [15"]
I have the smaller display in the front of me and use photoshop on the big one.
My issue is very annoying: some photoshop tools/windows are popping up on the smaller display... Is it possible to prevent applications from doing this? :P

raven1083 11-23-2008 06:01 AM

I use three

MrMaxwell 11-23-2008 06:06 AM

Trust me on this one.
Use both monitors as one big desktop.
Install Ultra-Mon and set it up to your liking.
Put taskbars on the extreme left and the extreme right.

the 40 inch Sonia Bravia is wicked and the rest are set up pretty sweet also coz with that size and the cordless keyboard you can use/see it from anywhere in the room!

Violetta 11-23-2008 07:31 AM

I have 2 x 19! Love it!

FreeOnes 11-23-2008 09:24 AM
