The next Rodney Mullen? Sick skateboard video

Kid is really good.. He even takes Rodney's tricks and makes them harder in some cases.. Higher uhmmm.. degree of difficulty.. :)

Spunky 11-23-2008 10:52 PM

Incredible balance.

aico 11-23-2008 10:53 PM

eh, he's doing the tricks, yes, but he has absolutely zero style.

Dude he's like 13.

d-null 11-23-2008 10:56 PM

not feeling it

jollyperv 11-23-2008 10:59 PM

Freestyle stuff is only fun to watch for about 30 seconds at a time...pretty much has no place in modern skating. Now if he was throwing himself down a 15 stair handrail at top fucking speed while doing some of that shit, that's another story.

That's the beauty of skating, though...kid's having a blast doing his own thing.

Ketchup 11-23-2008 11:05 PM

holy shit talk about the pressure on the kid:)

Fags? For those that are strictly street skaters - maybe, Dan Gesmer, definitely, but pool, pipe and even downhill skaters? hell no.

Here is Danny Way fucking himself up again the other day (2 or 3 vertebrae crushed I think). Dude has balls (and plates, pins and screws) of steel.

'Tis dangerous to have an unquenchable need for that buzz...

Some pretty insane tricks there. You should check out daewon song, he gives Rodney a run for his money.

The Duck 11-24-2008 08:01 AM

He is very skilled.

Kevin Cunningham 11-24-2008 08:07 AM

people have no idea how hard that shit is. kid is very talented.

Peter Romero 11-24-2008 09:25 AM

He's very good, one of the best I've seen. But not even close to as good as Rodney. I've been skating with Rodney and watching him skate since the early 80's. And one thing that sets Rodney Mullen apart from EVERYONE ELSE's style is the speed and ease of what he does. He is always amazed himself of how easy and how wired he's got shit. That's the best part about watching him. Then, in the last 10-15 years - he took all his tricks to the street and does them fast, over benches and curbs and up onto objects too. This kid is young, and could catch Rodney someday, but in my opinion - he's got a long way to go to be better than Rodney Mullen.:2 cents:

On a side note: I didn't knbow you were a skater Socks. Do-tell, dotell.

justinsain 11-24-2008 09:50 AM

There's about a ten year difference between our pictures and it got me to thinking about skateboarding progression.
Around the time of my pic urethane wheels and wider trucks were just coming out and the big tricks were multiple 360s and grinding the coping.

Fast forward to your pic and skaters have taken to the air and today they are pulling multiple 360s off the ramp in the air,

Sticking with the tread the question was asked if this kid was the next Rodney Mullen and I'm thinking there will never be another Rodney.
Someone can come along and duplicate his tricks but what will always set Rodney apart is his vision, innovation and style.
He blazed the trail for others to follow and perhaps duplicate but unless they can innovate like Rodney they are merely following his footsteps.

Here's a really cool video Of Rodney I found on youtube.

Notice the first trick he has no front truck and later where he grinds using the deck :thumbsup
