K wouldnt it be better to just buy the phone for a few hundred and so a month to month rather then get phone for cheaer initailly then get locked in for 2 yeears?

If you pick the right company in the first place contracts mean dick.

in Canada you're fucked, only 1 real cellphone company (at least 1 that offers Blackberries and iPhones with 3G) the rest are like Koodoo and shit like that.

If I buy an iPhone from eBay, take it to them to get it activated they'll make me sign a 3 year contract, even if its my phone. Because I have no alternative.

The penalty for early term is not much, Verizon is only max $175, and it gets lower as more months go by... I just renewed for 2yrs and got the Storm for $150.
